UNA is partnering with the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits to bring you this five-part series aimed at strengthening your HR skills to support your organization's mission.
This series follows the employee lifecycle—from hiring through development and retention—anchored in equity, emotional intelligence, and human-centered systems. Each 60-minute workshop functions as both part of a progressive learning journey and as a stand-alone session.
Series Outcomes
By the end of the 5-part series, participants will:
Understand how equity and inclusion apply across all stages of the employee lifecycle.
Develop practical tools to embed equity, emotional intelligence, and transparency into HR systems.
Strengthen their ability to coach, evaluate, and lead teams through equitable, human-centered practices.
Commit to actionable steps that advance belonging and accountability within their organizations.

Each event takes place on Wednesday every two weeks from 1:00 - 2:00 PM CT.
Workshop 1: Re(Human)izing Recruitment & Onboarding August 12, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM MT (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM CT)
Explore how to attract, interview, and onboard talent through an equity-centered lens. You will learn how traditional hiring practices replicate bias, and how inclusive job design, accessible onboarding, and culture-add approaches can create belonging from day one.
Workshop 2: Emotionally-Intelligent Communication & Engagement August 26, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM MT (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM CT)
Engagement starts with emotional intelligence (EQ). You will learn how to apply EQ principles—self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and relationship management—to daily communication and team trust-building. Using insights from EQ-Comms and The Neurochemistry of Trust, this workshop equips HR leaders and managers to foster psychologically safe dialogue.
Workshop 3: Equitable Performance & Talent Development September 9, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM MT (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM CT)
Centering equity in performance management means reimagining how goals, reviews, and feedback are designed and delivered. This workshop explores equitable performance systems—including 360 reviews, calibration processes, and bias mitigation—to create growth opportunities for all employees.
Workshop 4: Compensation, Recognition, & Retention September 23, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM MT (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM CT)
Linking pay equity, recognition, and development opportunities to organizational values is key to retention. You will examine transparent compensation philosophies , total-rewards frameworks, and equitable development strategies that acknowledge both performance and potential.
Workshop 5: Leading Change & Building Equity-Centered Culture October 7, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM MT (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM CT)
In this culminating session, participants will assess their organization’s systems through the lens of the Equity Audit Framework. The session focuses on equipping HR and nonprofit leaders to model accountability, navigate resistance, and sustain culture transformation.
Virtual Office Hours Deepening Our Learning & Building a Community of Practice September 2 and September 30, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM MT (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM CT)
Available only for those registered for the whole series. Between workshops, series participants are invited to join virtual office hours designed as interactive “learning circles” rather than traditional Q&A sessions. These 60-minute sessions offer space for reflection, practice, and peer-to-peer exchange, helping participants bridge theory to action in real time

I founded Wayfinders Coaching & Consulting after spending over a decade in operations management and people leadership in high-performance organizations. I’ve worked cross-functionally in HR, business development, change management and learning and development, and across many industries–from nonprofit work, higher education, food service, and retail–to DEI consulting.
What I found along the way is that the core ingredients for successful relationships (and ultimately business growth) are rooted in emotional intelligence, trust-based communication, and intercultural competence. Now I offer coaching, training, consulting, and thought-partnership for individuals and teams seeking to build these skills.I work with an incredibly diverse team of practitioners, with go-to methodologies that include critical HROD, change management frameworks, emotional intelligence (EQ-i), intercultural development (IDI), systems audits, and cultural assessments.
