Behavior Specialist


Utah Community Action of Salt Lake City, UT is seeking to hire a Behavior Specialist. This is a full time, year-round, benefit eligible position.

The Behavior Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing behavior support plans in collaboration with the mental health and special needs teams. Will provide ongoing training to staff and families to ensure the success of the child. Support teaching staff in developing and implementing intervention plans and the implementation of IFSP and IEP goals. Must maintain full compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards, Health Department and Child Care Licensing Regulations. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and Ethical Practices.

This Behavior Specialist position earns a competitive salary of $59,612 per year or $28.66/hour. We also offer generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, a flexible spending account (FSA), a healthcare spending account (HSA) with up to a $2,500 match, a 401k plan with 5% match, short and long-term disability, accident insurance, life insurance, 11 paid holidays, paid time off between Christmas and New Year's, paid time off (PTO) of up to 192 hours a year, and an hour of paid time on Fridays for self-care. Potential for FCDL student loan forgiveness after 120 eligible payments. Typical work scheduled 8-4:30 Mon-Fri. Office located in Millcreek.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Special Education, speech language pathology, and/or related field required.
  • Knowledge of Special Education and Applied behavioral analysis needed.
  • Two years of experience with behavioral support evaluation and services for children birth to five years of age.
  • Valid Driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in psychology, behavioral analysis, education, special education or related field.
  • Head Start experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of behavior interventions and behavior support plans.
  • 3 or more years of experience working with children ages birth to five

OTHER JOB DUTIES

  • Show knowledge and understanding of the Disabilities Head Start Program Performance Standards, and the IFSP / IEP process.
  • Assist in monitoring/tracking children eligible for special education, produces monthly reports and data as required, and maintains records to ensure compliance with Individual Education Plans
  • Support teaching staff with developing intervention and behavior plans, and implementing IFSP/ IEP goals.
  • Assist in speech and language/developmental screenings throughout the school year.
  • Provide direct monitoring, assessment, intervention, and training including: behavioral supports, proactive strategies, triggering events, staff interventions, replacement behaviors, etc.
  • Maintain system for collecting objective data regarding target and replacement behaviors of individuals served.
  • Maintain system for collecting staff fidelity data of Support Plan strategies.
  • Assist in crisis response strategies of individuals demonstrating harmful behaviors.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate agencies and follows up.
  • Provides ongoing staff training on a variety of behavior topics.
  • Collaborates with staff in supporting students with behavior concerns.
  • Assist staff in identifying children with suspected delays.
  • Collaborates with local school districts and other community agencies.
