Computer Assistant
Provide timely support services to employees with basic/first-level technical problems and information technology issues involving desktop, laptop, or network services. Assist both onsite and remote employees. Create and track help desk tickets in the system to ensure prompt and satisfactory resolution to issues. Install and support licensed and internal software/hardware. Track computer hardware and software assets. Assist with Active Directory accounts, including new hires, terminations, as well as password changes. Maintain printers and coordinate service repairs. Repair PCs, laptops, printers, monitors, etc. Escalate issues as necessary to appropriate support group.
Work Schedule: The position will run from May 2025 to October 2025, with the potential for an extension beyond its initial duration. The weekly schedule will vary depending on the Garden event schedule. The position will primarily require work and event support in the afternoons and evenings, with some weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively, professionally, and respectfully represents the entire IT staff and their services to staff, patrons, and associates of Red Butte Garden.
- Set up and support concert/event systems, including computers, printers, barcode scanners, and wireless Wi-Fi access points.
- Administer and support IT systems, applications, and services. This may include answering questions, troubleshooting problems, teaching or instructing users about software or hardware functionality, and communicating policy.
- Administer and deploy devices, software updates, patches, scripts, and licenses.
- Monitor computers and IT systems to ensure the security and integrity of systems and data.
- Document IT systems configurations and procedures, as well as issue resolutions.
- Maintain an inventory of hardware and track device checkouts.
- Support IT systems during events, particularly in the late afternoon and evening, when outdoor summer weather can be challenging.
- Execute IT-related projects as assigned by the IT Manager.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in a computer related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Two years of related experience preferred. Demonstrated computer skills, human relations and effective communication skills are required.
Preferences:
- 2+ years of direct IT support experience is preferred.
- Patience, a positive, customer-friendly attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
- Experience administering and supporting Windows and macOS systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and computer server systems is beneficial.
- Familiarity with computer printers and troubleshooting is preferred.
- The ability to work in varying outdoor climatic conditions during spring, summer, and fall, as well as crowded concert events with loud music, is desirable.
