Development Director
Organization Overview
Wasatch Mountain Institute (WMI) exists to serve the children of the Wasatch front and back, with special focus on Title I school students. Many of these students live in view of the Wasatch Mountains but spend little or no time in them. Participating in WMI school and community programs connects children with their local environment, and helps them to develop a sense of place, sense of community, and a sense of self that will help them grow into future stewards of the resources of the Wasatch.
Position Overview
The Development Director is a key leadership position at WMI, responsible for planning and implementing strategies to secure the financial resources necessary to support and expand our mission. This includes building and maintaining relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.
Responsibilities:
• Fundraising:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and corporate sponsorships.
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors.
• Manage grant writing and reporting processes.
• Oversee fundraising events and campaigns.
• Donor Relations:
• Build and nurture strong relationships with current and potential donors.
• Maintain accurate donor records and acknowledgements.
• Develop and implement donor recognition and stewardship strategies.
• Communications:
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop compelling messaging and materials that highlight WMI's impact.
• Represent WMI at community events and speaking engagements.
• Strategic Planning:
• Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to set fundraising goals and priorities.
• Monitor and evaluate fundraising performance and adjust strategies as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Passion for WMI's mission and the outdoors.
