We support three partner organizations—the Disability Law Center, Utah Legal Services, and Legal Aid Society of Salt Lake City—and manage the James B. Lee Justice Center, where all three are housed. The Role
AJFA seeks a highly organized, self-motivated development coordinator to support the Executive Director and ensure the smooth operation of our office and facilities. This role is essential in helping our team stay organized and efficient so we can focus on advancing access to justice for those in need.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing administrative tasks, building management, and event support. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working behind the scenes to keep an organization running smoothly, and contributing to a mission-driven nonprofit.
What You’ll Do
Fundraising & Development Support
- Support the execution of AJFA’s fundraising strategies, including annual giving, major gifts, and legacy giving.
- Prepare donor lists, reports, pledge tracking, and campaign materials.
- Coordinate timelines and logistics to keep fundraising campaigns on track.
- Assist with content creation, appeals, and social media
Donor Database & Records Management
- Maintain the donor database, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely updates.
- Track donor interactions, pledges, payments, and acknowledgments.
- Prepare mailing lists, reports, and data for fundraising analysis and board reporting.
- Ensure donor thank-you letters, acknowledgments, and recognition go out accurately and on time.
Event Management
- Maintain the donor database, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely updates.
- Manage RSVPs, registrations, materials, and day-of logistics
- Coordinate volunteers, vendors, and event-related communications.
Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director.
- Prepare and edit documents, reports, invoices, and presentations.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, including preparing materials and setting up meeting spaces.
- Assist with general office organization and records management.
Building & Office Management
- Manage day-to-day operations of the James B. Lee Justice Center.
- Coordinate with vendors for maintenance, repairs, janitorial services, and inspections.
- Track building-related schedules, compliance items, and vendor invoices.
- Serve as a point of contact for the partner agencies housed in the building, supporting smooth operations and collaboration.
What Are We Looking For
- Experience in a development or administrative role; nonprofit experience preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable juggling competing priorities and following through.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for serving people who need legal help.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
