Infant/Toddler Classroom Teaching Aide

We are hiring an Infant/Toddler Classroom Teaching Aides in our Early Head Start classroom. These aides will work with children ages 0 to 3years. This position is 40 hours a week, year-round. The typical work schedule is 7:45 am-4:15 pm. The aides will attend a Child Development Certificate class on Fridays.
The Classroom Teaching position earns a competitive wage of $18.80/hour. We also offer generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, a flexible spending account (FSA), a healthcare spending account (HSA) with up to a $2,500 match, a 401k plan with 5% match, short and long-term disability, accident insurance, life insurance, 11 paid holidays, paid time off between Christmas and New Year's, paid time off (PTO up to 192 hours a year), and an hour of paid time on Fridays for self-care. We will pay your tuition and enroll you in our Child Development Associate (CDA) course if you are hired. This course not only enhances your skills but also opens up opportunities for career advancement. Once you receive your CDA, you can apply to be an Infant/Toddler Teacher. Travel will be required to complete the CDA course.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Classroom Teaching Aide works cooperatively as a member of a classroom team to deliver high-quality services for all children and families and is responsible for the safety, supervision, and activities of the birth to three years old children assigned under their care in the program.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma.
- Required to be enrolled (upon hire) in our Preschool Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) program to be completed within one year.
- Must complete the CPR/First Aide Course and Food Handler's Permit within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to take direction and converse in English.
OTHER DUTIES
- Has basic knowledge and assists in planning, supporting, and implementing learning experiences that advance the children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Has basic knowledge and assists ongoing data collection to promote children's progress towards school readiness goals, including children with disabilities and dual language learners.
- Provides quality, developmentally appropriate, responsive care. Supports the classroom team as needed to provide a safe and healthy learning environment through well-organized classrooms featuring consistent schedules, well-designed areas for experiences, established routines, and sensitive and appropriate guidance strategies.
- Review the ongoing assessments and checkpoints with the classroom team to ensure course corrections are made and implemented to improve children's outcomes.
- Assists in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and electronic family files for children in assigned classrooms, including comprehensive current case notes; compiles monthly reports to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.
- Collaborates with program specialists, special needs support, behavior specialists, mental health coaches, and school districts to identify, refer, and provide services and support to children with special needs, including those with individual education plans.
- Assists in developing and implementing behavior plans and/or appropriate interventions.
- Supports and respects individual children and families' cultural beliefs, including their home language.
- Assists in conducting a minimum of two Home Visits and two Staff-Parent Conferences during the school year.
- Continues professional development through research-based, coordinated coaching strategies, training, peer mentoring, and college classes.
- Ensures parents are supported as advocates for their child's individual educational needs, encourages parents to volunteer in the classroom, and maintains 85% attendance of their child.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment by providing active supervision to all children at all times to ensure their well-being. This includes actively engaging with children in learning activities indoors and outdoors.
- Ensures two staff members are present at all times while class is in session.
- Continues professional development through research-based, coordinated coaching strategies, training, peer mentoring, and CDA program.
