Nutrition Program Director
JOB SUMMARY:
The Nutrition Program Director is a key role in providing meals and snacks to youth who attend Club programs. You'll be managing a team of Child Nutrition Professionals (CNPs) who serve federally funded meals and snacks daily to the youth who come through the Club doors. Meaningful meals and snacks encompass ensuring safety and hygiene, providing nutrient-dense meals the kids will enjoy, connecting with youth as a positive adult figure, and promoting emotional and mental safety around diet and body image.
A successful Nutrition Program Director is enthusiastic about helping others and strengthening the community. You'll have the chance to connect with young people and build supportive relationships. Working as part of a team, you'll ensure that Club youth are safe, celebrated, and able to pick up new skills in a lively and welcoming environment.

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Management and Administrative Duties:
- Orientation for all new hires
- Organization-wide training twice per year
- Annual training for CNPs
- Supervise 8+ CNPs across all seven Club sites
- Hire and train new CNPs
- Create trainings on food safety and proper meal service
- Writing and training staff on SOPs for sanitation, food safety, best practices
- Collaborate with various departments within the organization
- Budgeting and Procurement:
- Manage budget of over $400,000
- Cost analysis and comparison
- Federally Funded Food Programs:
- Utah Food Bank
- School Districts
- USBE
- Sysco
- Health Departments
- Act as Sponsor for federally funded food programs (CACFP, CACFP At-Risk, and SFSP)
- Maintain relationships with the following community partners
- Maintain Child Care Licensing, Health Department, and BGCA standards for meal services and kitchens
- Menu planning and procurement to meet USDA FNS and USBE requirements
Required Knowledge:
- Degree in public health, health education, dietetics, or health administration is highly preferred
- Experience in data collection and analysis
- Considerable knowledge of the administration and management of child nutrition programs and the federal and state laws governing them.
- In-depth understanding of the principles and practices of nutrition, food service operations including menu planning, food safety, food production; procurement systems; program, operational, and financial management and nutrition education.
- Ability to work in high-energy, loud, and active settings with large groups of youth and teens
- Ability to prioritize tasks and accomplish them in a detailed, timely manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with Club youth, peers, parents, community leaders, etc.
- Self-motivated, and comfortable with both independent and collaborative processes
Requirements:
- 21 years and over preferred (to meet driving requirements)
- Be CPR and First Aid certified (the Boys & Girls Clubs can arrange for this)
- Obtain valid Food Safety Manager Certification (the Boys & Girls Clubs will arrange for this)
- Be able to function for more than 5 hours on your feet
- Be adaptable and flexible to change
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
