Description
The Volunteer Program at Women of the World seeks to create opportunities for service-minded individuals to assist WoW’s clients and programs. WoW utilizes volunteers primarily through the mentorship program, where local volunteers are matched with clients 1:1 to help the clients with their individual needs. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, train, match, and support mentors and mentees, as well as provide reports to management on the scope and effectiveness of the mentorship program.
WoW also recruits volunteers to perform childcare during English classes and workshops, assist with annual fundraising and community events, and perform other customized and unique tasks as they arise, such as providing transportation for English field trips, tabling at community events, leading conversation classes, or assisting with workshops.
This position must be filled by a dedicated individual who is social justice oriented, a team player, and committed to working alongside other dedicated staff to empower forcibly displaced women in Utah.
Qualifications:
Able to pass a criminal background check
Maintain client, volunteer, and staff confidentiality
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Consistently reliable and well-prepared
Self-starter with excellent problem-solving and time-management skills
Strong general office computer and administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite required
Experience with Dropbox and Salesforce file system preferred
Have own transportation and auto insurance and willing to meet clients/volunteers in their homes or where needed
Able to work some nights/weekends
Demonstrated success working effectively in a multi-cultural environment, working with immigrant populations, or ESL speakers
Mission driven: a desire to be part of a service to be part of a service to something bigger than yourself
Responsibilities
Monitor and retain postings for volunteers
Hold monthly volunteer orientations
Design and deliver training for new and continuing volunteers
Certify volunteer readiness, including but not limited to; background checks, training and form completion
Conduct volunteer appreciation and recognition programs
Track volunteer engagement and create regular quantitative and qualitative reports
Create and maintain comprehensive records of past, current, and potential volunteers in the Salesforce database
Create and maintain all volunteer documents in Dropbox
Serve as a liaison between volunteers and caseworkers.
Position the benefits of volunteering as a life enriching, rewarding experience for prospective volunteers.
Solicit regular feedback from volunteers and implement needed changes to improve the program
Foster the WoW mission of Self Reliance through properly trained mentors matched with clients.
Coordinate with WoW’s management and media staff to ensure effective communication within the organization and to the community at large
