Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week (10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.)

About United Way of Utah County Community Centers

United Way of Utah County’s Community Centers are dedicated to fostering connectedness and self-efficacy within our communities. With three locations—Provo (South Franklin), Payson, and American Fork—our centers provide a welcoming space for individuals and families to learn, grow, and connect. We work with volunteers and partners to offer a wide range of free classes and activities, including playgroups, music lessons, choir, homework help, reading club, and adult classes such as Zumba, English as a Second Language (ESL) and computer literacy.

Position Description:

The Community Center Coordinator supports the operations and programming of the Payson Community Center. This position manages volunteers and interns, engages with community members, coordinates programs and events, and ensures the smooth and safe functioning of the center.

This full-time position (40 hours per week) is scheduled to work during the daytime, with occasional extended hours required for special events. The coordinator reports to the Community Centers’ Director and works to ensure continuity across programs and daily operations. While many responsibilities are handled independently, the role also involves regular collaboration on shared tasks, events, and center-wide priorities.

Position Responsibilities:

The duties listed below illustrate the type of work this position involves. This list is not exhaustive, and responsibilities may change based on the needs of the center.

Volunteer Management

· Conduct volunteer outreach and onboarding

· Coordinate with Y-Serve program director regarding volunteers

· Ensure volunteers register and log hours accurately

· Maintain ongoing communication with volunteers

· Collaborate with other centers’ coordinators to plan volunteer appreciation

· Keep volunteer records current in the database

Intern Management

· Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and training of interns

· Create intern schedules and assign class responsibilities

· Conduct weekly check-ins with each intern

· Provide oversight and feedback on intern projects

· Ensure interns log hours

· Participate in intern orientation and appreciation planning

· Delegate daily cleanup duties to interns

Community Engagement

· Build relationships with community members and families

· Foster a welcoming and inclusive culture

· Help ensure a safe and respectful environment by enforcing center policies

Program Coordination

· Oversee interns’ daily program support tasks (e.g., snack distribution, class reminders)

· Plan and coordinate evening events (e.g., Digital Inclusion Graduation, Community Cafes)

· Manage the private music lessons program

· Oversee the Parent Leadership Council on monthly Community Cafes

· Assist with large event planning (e.g., Halloween, Christmas, Music Recital, etc.)

· Attend and support all center events

· Contribute to semester planning and program scheduling

Data and Records

· Ensure all program participants and volunteers are registered and tracked

· Work with interns to accurately record attendance and volunteer hours

· Track snack distribution and ensure sign-off procedures

· Take and post program photos/videos and live social media updates

· Gather volunteer/participant stories for reporting and outreach

Knowledge of:

· Volunteer and intern management

· Community engagement and cultural competency

· Youth programming and event planning

· Center operations and maintenance

· Social media and basic marketing

· Recordkeeping and data collection

· Safety and security practices in public facilities

· Basic computer use (Microsoft 365, Canva, and Excel)

· United Way of Utah County’s mission and local community context

Ability to:

· Communicate fluently in Spanish and English

· Skilled in establishing meaningful connections with diverse populations, including individuals and families from various cultural, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds

· Coordinate and supervise volunteers and interns

· Lead programs and events with attention to detail

· Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting

· Use judgment to address unexpected challenges

· Collaborate effectively with team members

· Maintain professional communication across formats (email, social media, in person)

· Stay organized and ensure accurate documentation

· Experienced in developing strategic partnerships with donors and community organizations, resulting in increased engagement and resource support

Minimum Requirements:

Education, Training, and Experience:

· Minimum of associate’s degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred in Social Work, Family Science, Public Health, Human Services, or a related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

· 1-2 years working with diverse populations, community engagement, or program coordination preferred, volunteer coordination, youth programming

· Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

· Valid Utah Driver’s License

· Access to a personal vehicle for use during work hours (mileage reimbursable)

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn new software applications and databases

· English and Spanish fluency is required

· Must pass background check

Benefits and Compensation:

· Position based in Payson, UT. Typically schedule Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM- 6:30 PM. Some early mornings, late evenings, and occasional Saturdays are required for community events. Must be able to travel to the Provo and American Fork facilities when needed.

The physical demands described below are representative of those needed to perform this job’s essential functions

Must be able to regularly stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds

· Use of hands and arms for computer work, set-up, and clean-up

· Ability to move supplies, tables, and program materials as needed

· Visual ability to monitor spaces and adjust focus
