The National Ability Center provides a wide variety of programs both seasonally and year-round. Activities include alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, horseback riding, hippotherapy, indoor/outdoor rock climbing, challenge course activities, swimming, archery, sled hockey, cycling, water-skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, and river rafting. The National Ability Center is located on a 26-acre ranch in Park City, Utah. We have satellite offices at the base of Park City Mountain Resort and in Moab, Utah.
We are looking for passionate and experienced outdoor professionals to join our Recreation and Adventure team. The ideal candidate is experienced in multiple in outdoor adventure activities and sports and is self-motivated with a strong work ethic to safely and effectively lead programs with great energy, enthusiasm, and passion to provide exceptional experiences for people of all ages and abilities. Job Summary:
The Recreation and Adventure department consists of a large and dynamic team that works together to provide the following adaptive winter programs: Team Building, Indoor Climbing, Pickleball, Sled Hockey, Fat Tire Biking, and Nordic Skiing/Snowshoeing.
Programs are offered to both individuals and groups who may be participating one time or returning on a weekly, monthly or annual basis at our Park City Ranch or surrounding areas. Staff on the Recreation & Adventure team are responsible for pre-program planning, program delivery, excellent customer service, and post program wrap up. Staff will have one or two program areas of focus based on previous personal and professional experience. In addition to areas of focus staff will support on additional programs as needed.
This is a part-time, seasonal position that requires approximately 10-15 hours of work per week. It requires a flexible schedule to support programs, based on program needs. We are specifically looking for instructors who can commit to Fridays and Saturdays with potential availability to pick up other days throughout the week based on program needs. The winter season begins on January 2nd and goes until middle of April, with the potential to stay on for additional seasons.
Essential Duties:
- Delivers premier recreational and adventure programing to people with and without disabilities.
- Maintains a high level of risk management and provides safe programing for participants using both adaptive and typical equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or the ability to obtain within 30 days).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- 1 year professional or 2 years personal experience in one or more of our program areas.
- Group management and/or behavior management experience.
- Relevant certifications [WFR, EMT, SPI, CTRS].
- Valid Driver’s License.
