This position pays $3.75/hr when on call and $17/hr when on scene.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the Sexual Assault Program Coordinator, Hospital Response Team Coordinator and the general supervision of the VAC Manager, provide direct services to survivors of sexual violence through advocacy and crisis intervention as part of a mobile response team.

This job requires a person who works well independently and possesses excellent crisis intervention skills as well as has experience in working with survivors from various cultural and identity groups. Reliability and the ability to respond on scene in a timely manner is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide crisis intervention and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault on scene at hospitals and forensic exam centers in Weber County.
  • Participate in rotating, on-call 24-hour crisis intervention at a variety of times, including evenings and weekends dependent upon scheduling.
  • Assess client needs and refer to appropriate YCC programs for follow up.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and turn in all paperwork within 48 hours.
  • Assist victims with Crime Victims Reparation paperwork.
  • Attend monthly advocate training meetings and scheduled supervisions with HRT Coordinator.
  • Represent YCC Family Crisis Center with a professional image, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge base, people skills, and advocate competency.
  • Build collaborative relationships with staff and volunteers as well as members of the community.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures stated in the Employee Handbook and any applicable Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Employee, and ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Flexible schedule required.
  • High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of relevant experience, or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities. Prior experience working with individuals and families in crisis preferred.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain 40 hr. sexual assault crisis counselor certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Employee must complete and pass criminal background check.
  • Must possess valid Utah Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
  • Must have understanding of sexual assault and domestic violence issues and knowledge of community resources
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
  • Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrate high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with clients and other department staff.
  • High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility with work hours.
  • Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving the organization's goals and objectives.

  • Work is generally performed in a hospital or an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit or stand for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with clients and employees.
  • The employee is regularly required to: perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands.
  • Must be able to occasionally move objects of 15 lbs.
