Staff Accountant
Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions to support the financial operations of the agency. This position ensures accurate financial recordkeeping, compliance with grant requirements, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mission-driven, and familiar with non-profit accounting principles.
Compensation:
$50,000 - $52,500/year DOE - This is a full-time position complete with medical, dental, accrued PTO (Paid Time Off), 403(b) retirement plan benefits, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, AD&D, Term Life Policy.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accurate journal entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
- Prepare and submit financial reports for internal use and external grantors.
- Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding guidelines.
- Support AP/AR processes, including coding, entry, and documentation.
- Assist with annual audits and provide necessary schedules and documentation.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records in accordance with agency policies and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with program managers to support financial aspects of program planning and reporting.
- Stay up to date with non-profit accounting standards and grant compliance requirements (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance, GAAP).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting; non-profit experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Experience working with federal, state, or local grant funding preferred.
- Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) preferred.
- Familiarity with CAP agency operations or similar community-based organizations preferred.
