Join UNA and our nonprofit financial experts for an exciting new learning opportunity, the 2025 Ledger Lab Series.

Running a nonprofit is all about achieving your mission, not managing the books. But as crucial as your cause is, solid financial management is key to your success now more than ever. In this hands-on, interactive series, we’ll help you simplify financial management by covering the essentials you need to know—financial statements, reporting, cost optimization, fraud prevention, and QuickBooks management.

This five course series will provide the guidance you need to transform bookkeeping from a burden to an empowering tool, helping you focus more on what truly matters: driving your mission forward.

No pitches, no product demos—just the information you need to set yourself up for success.

To support your learning goals, the training sessions will be recorded and shared with registrants after the sessions are completed.

Cost:
UNA Members: $180 for the first person/$40 for each additional participant
Not-Yet Members: $360 for the first person/$80 for each additional participant

Course 1, Foundation Building

Running a nonprofit is all about achieving your mission, not managing the books—but strong financial management is key to your success. In this hands-on, 90-minute course, we'll help you simplify financial concepts like financial statements, reporting, donation types, and tax considerations. You’ll learn how to create and manage a budget, spot warning signs, and make budgeting a seamless part of your nonprofit’s growth.

By the end of this training, you'll have the skills to confidently manage your finances and focus on what truly matters: driving your mission forward.



Course 2, Navigating QuickBooks
June 12, 2025 | 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (MT)

This live, interactive session is designed for nonprofit professionals who want to learn the fundamentals of using QuickBooks to manage their finances. If you're new to QuickBooks or need a solid refresher, this course will walk you through the essential steps to set up and use QuickBooks with confidence. 



Course 3, Bookkeeper's Playbook
June 17, 2025 | 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (MT)

Are you feeling overwhelmed by bookkeeping confusion? This course is designed to help you simplify and organize your nonprofit's financials, making them work better for you. You’ll learn best practices for aligning QuickBooks (QB) mapping with your unique financial situation and understanding your books in a way that actually makes sense to you. We’ll break down complex language and show you how to organize your finances clearly and efficiently. By the end of this course, you’ll have a clearer, simpler way to manage your nonprofit’s financials, helping you feel confident in your bookkeeping and focused on your mission.



Course 4, Cut Costs, Not Impact

Being strategic about cutting costs and managing expenses is more important than ever for nonprofits today. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore how nonprofits can improve their financial performance by focusing on expense management. Designed for nonprofit leaders and team members, this session will provide practical strategies to streamline costs without sacrificing essential services.



Course 5To Catch a Fraud: A Cautionary Tale (FREE for members)

Fraud can be elusive, taking on many forms and often slipping through unnoticed. In this session, we’ll touch on some of the most common threats and explore how organizations can recognize and respond to them.
