Position Outcome
The Part-Time Accounting Assistant will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of YWCA Utah. By ensuring the accurate and timely recording of credit card transactions, cash receipts, donations and reconciliation of petty cash they will support the organization's financial accountability and compliance with regulatory and internal policies. Their diligent management of these processes will contribute to precise financial reporting, enabling informed decision-making by leadership.
Through meticulous organization of financial documentation, the Accounting Assistant will enhance workflow efficiency within the finance team, reducing processing errors and ensuring easy access to critical records for audits or internal reviews. Their support in billing and collaboration with the Senior Accountant will help streamline operations and ensure adherence to best accounting practices.
Beyond financial tasks, their commitment to YWCA Utah’s mission—particularly in anti-racism, gender equity, and social justice—will reinforce the organization’s inclusive culture and trauma-informed financial practices. By effectively managing responsibilities and maintaining strong communication with staff and partners, they will contribute to a more transparent, equitable, and mission-driven financial system that strengthens YWCA Utah’s capacity to serve the community.

Essential Job functions
· Enter credit card transactions accurately on a daily basis while ensuring appropriate documentation and coding.
· Record daily cash receipts, including checks, and ensure timely deposits.
Accurately document donation data while ensuring precise coding.
· Provide billing backup support and maintain records as required by the Senior Accountant.
· Scan and file accounts payable bills and checks in an organized manner.
· Manage petty cash transactions and maintain records of expenditures.
· Assist the accounts payable staff with tasks as needed to ensure efficient workflow.

Qualifications
● An understanding of, and agreement with, YWCA Utah’s mission, values and philosophy regarding the elimination of racism, empowerment of women and commitment to anti-oppression work and social justice.
● Understanding and commitment to issues of cultural diversity and anti-racism.
● Ability to work scheduled hours on a regular basis, some weekends and evenings required.
● Proficiency with general office duties, computer systems and technology such as Microsoft Excel.
● Proficiency in accounting software such as NetSuite.
● Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
● Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
● Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete projects within established timeframe.
● Demonstrated experience functioning within multidisciplinary settings.
● Skilled in establishing effective working relationships.
● Ability to collaborate and invite collaboration.
● Able to demonstrate skills in effective communication, conflict resolution and problem solving.
● If driving on business, a valid Utah driver’s license, access to an automobile, and valid auto insurance required.
Physical/Sensory Demands
Work is generally performed in a safe office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees; walk and stand for long periods of time; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. Travel to attend conferences, training, outreach and other events occurs routinely. Rarely required to lift up to 30 lbs.
