ACCOUNTING CLERK

Admin/Operations

Overview 

The accounting clerk plays a key role in supporting the accounting department by handling fundamental financial tasks and administrative responsibilities. This position is responsible for assisting with accounts payable, data entry, and maintaining accurate financial records to support the department's daily operations. Additionally, this role provides support to the HR team by assisting with employee onboarding and managing employee vouchers. 

 

Objectives of this Role 

  • Key member to the accounts payable process. 

  • Maintain accurate records of accounting inventory, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with financial reporting standards. 

  • Verify and submit retail and concession inventory invoices for payment. 

  • Oversee and verify bi-annual retail inventory physical count. 

  • Record monthly inventory entries. 

  • Work with supervisors and managers to approve and track retail purchase orders and inventory. 

  • Support the accounting team in organizing and maintaining accurate financial records and files. 

  • Perform data entry for financial transactions, ensuring proper coding and documentation. 

  • Reconcile simple accounts, such as payroll, credit card transactions, and or vendor payments, under the guidance of the Accounting Assistant. 

  • Help with tracking and resolving any discrepancies in financial records. 

  • Proactively work with venue and department staff and managers, utilizing a variety of communication styles 

  • Distribute mail and ensure invoices and other documents are processed timely. 

  • Provide general clerical support, including scanning, filing, and organizing financial documents. 

  • Assist with ordering office supplies and managing office inventory. 

  • Assist Human Resources in overseeing the onboarding process, including coordinating I-9 verification appointments, conducting background/driving checks, and distributing employee vouchers. 

  • Assist with monthly journal entries. 

  • Assist with annual audit. 

  • Other tasks as assigned. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Minimum 18 years of age. 

  • 2-3 years' experience in an accounts payable clerk and/or accounting related role 

  • Must be available to work weekdays. Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be needed, especially for sport event assistance. 

  • This position typically operates in a professional office environment.  

  • Travel may be required for meetings, training, or other work-related events at other venues.  

  • Must be able to sit and work at a desk for long periods, as well as, able to lift 20 pounds. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

  • Hearing - to converse with other is a normal conversation. 

  • Balancing, bending, climbing, kneeling, walking, pushing, reaching above shoulders, and sitting. 

 

Required Knowledge and Essential Skills 

  • Knowledge of accrual accounting preferred 

  • Superior organizational and oral/written communication skills 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel 

  • Ability to multi-task, with strong attention to detail 

  • Must work well in a team environment 

  • Working knowledge of NetSuite software preferred
