Adoptive Family Consultant and Community Volunteer Coordinator

About the Role

Utah Foster Care (UFC) is seeking a part-time Foster-Adoptive Family Consultant and Community Volunteer Coordinator to serve the Uintah Basin area of the Eastern Region (Duchesne, Uintah, and Daggett Counties), based out of the Vernal office. This role also builds and supports Care Teams through our Care Communities program.

This is a hybrid role that combines foster-adoptive family recruitment as the primary focus with community volunteer coordination as a supporting responsibility. This role plays a critical part in building and nurturing relationships with potential foster-adoptive families, partner agencies, community volunteers, and local communities. The successful candidate will lead recruitment and community volunteer efforts grounded in our CARE values:

Key Responsibilities

Community Presence & Partnerships

Represent Utah Foster Care in the community, strengthening public awareness and building connections that support both recruitment and community volunteers.

Develop and cultivate partnerships with individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations, and other stakeholders to advance recruitment, volunteer, and Care Communities efforts.

Collaborate with the Retention Specialist and regional staff to match volunteers with foster family needs.

Recruitment

Implement local and statewide recruitment strategies to find qualified foster-adoptive families, centered on connection, belonging, and the wellbeing of children.

Build meaningful relationships and educate potential foster families through in-home and virtual consultations.

Manage recruitment data and documentation across multiple platforms with accuracy and accountability.

Community Volunteer Coordination

Recruit community volunteers, matching them with opportunities that match their capacities

Plan and staff volunteer-supported events such as Kids Night Out, meal provider deliveries, Service Saturdays, and family appreciation events. Coordinate childcare for training and support groups for foster families.

Build and grow Care Teams by working with individuals and organizations in the community to build teams that provide ongoing support to local foster families.

Track volunteer hours and event outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Human Services-related field or a combination of professional and lived experience, such as serving as a foster or adoptive parent or engaging directly with child welfare work.

Experience with nonprofit or government child welfare agencies; knowledge of Utah's foster care system preferred.

If the applicant is a past or current foster parent, they must be in good standing with the Department of Health and Human Services.

Requires some evening and weekend hours and travel across a geographically large area.

Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
