POSITION SUMMARY
AmeriCorps Member-Grace Mary Manor Supportive Services with previously homeless disabled adults
The AmeriCorps member will serve up to 100 households living at Gregson Apartments and Grace Mary Manor, which provide affordable housing to previously homeless and chronically homeless individuals. The primary goal of the AmeriCorps Member is to provide supportive services to help vulnerable individuals remain housed. The AmeriCorps member will support the service coordinator in implementing programs that encourage resident participation in services and will assist in connecting residents to resources as necessary. The AmeriCorps Member will also assist with a small caseload of residents who are assessed to be more self-sufficient. The population this agency serves is at risk of housing instability, especially if they were to lose their housing rental assistance. The populations served by the AmeriCorps Member have a history of homelessness or housing instability as well as mental and physical disabilities and will benefit from supportive services to maintain their housing assistance, preventing future homelessness. Additionally, these programs extend and improve the quality of life for homeless persons in Salt Lake County by providing them with a safe and healthy long-term home. Residents of Grace Mary Manor and Gregson Apartments were all previously homeless. The AmeriCorps member will focus efforts on supporting these households to maintain their housing assistance, preventing returns to homelessness, as well as supporting all households to maintain their rental assistance so they do not enter the homeless system.
