12 Month 900-hour commitment

As an AmeriCorps member, the pay, called a ‘living stipend,’ is $15,300, which will be distributed over 12 months on a bi-weekly basis. Each bi-weekly check will be $586.45.

This is a part-time contract/commitment for one year (12 months) with a minimum of 900 hours.

Upon successful completion of the minimum hours and satisfactory fulfillment of the one-year contract, you will be eligible for an Education Award of $3,697.50.

AmeriCorps Program Overview

Salt Lake County's Most Vulnerable Populations AmeriCorps Program focuses on reducing systematic inequities. Our members help bridge the gap and reduce barriers for a variety of vulnerable populations including but not limited to; youth, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those involved in the Criminal Justice System. AmeriCorps is a voluntary civil society program supported by the U.S. federal government, foundations, corporations, and other donors by engaging adults in public service work, with a goal of helping others and meeting critical needs in the community. "The program is often seen as the domestic Peace Corps."

POSITION SUMMARY

AmeriCorps Member- The Hub of Opportunity Supportive Services with previously homeless, domestic violence survivors and disabled households

The AmeriCorps Member will support residents of The Hub of Opportunity in maintaining stable housing, accessing essential resources, and improving their overall well-being. Working closely with the on-site Service Coordinator, the member will assist up to 157 households, including individuals with disabilities, formerly homeless families, and survivors of domestic violence.

The primary goal of the AmeriCorps Member is to provide supportive services that help residents remain successfully housed. A needs assessment conducted in spring 2024 identified a need for additional support in housing stability, food security, and access to healthcare services. In response, the AmeriCorps Member will work alongside the Service Coordinator to develop and implement programs that address these needs while connecting residents to relevant community resources and services.

The AmeriCorps Member will also coordinate employment and workforce development activities, including referrals to organizations such as the Department of Workforce Services and Easterseals. Additionally, the member will help facilitate communication between residents and property management, assist residents in preparing for and successfully completing annual recertifications, provide education on lease compliance and preventative practices such as housekeeping and budgeting, and support residents in navigating social service systems and applying for available benefits.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday – Hours are Flexible between 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

• Computer Program (i.e., Microsoft)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must pass an FBI Criminal Background Check.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED. *Some or a College degree in social services a plus!
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Able to operate standard office equipment.
