POSITION OVERVIEW


Craft Lake City is seeking an experienced and community-driven Artisan Coordinator to lead the

organization's annual events and craft workshop programming. This role is central to the artisan

experience at Craft Lake City — from managing exhibitor applications and jury processes to curating

on-site workshops and coordinating all logistics for our flagship events. The ideal candidate is organized,

relationship-focused, and passionate about supporting Utah's local maker community. Experience in

nonprofit arts administration, event management, or artisan programming is strongly preferred.

This is a full-time, contract position with a weekly commitment of 40 hours, beginning immediately upon

hiring. Hours increase significantly in the months leading up to our major events. The Artisan Coordinator

is required to be on-site for the full duration of the DIY Festival, Holiday Market, Makers Mart, and

LetterWest, including setup and breakdown. Please consider working long hours in extreme heat (DIY

Festival) and cold (LetterWest, Holiday Market) when applying.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Annual Events — DIY Festival, Holiday Market, Makers Mart & LetterWest

• Lead recruitment and outreach efforts for Artisan categories across all annual events

• Manage exhibitor applications, oversee the jurying process, and communicate participation status

to all applicants

• Coordinate exhibitor placement, including special placement requests, replacements, and

load-in/load-out planning

• Prepare all event materials including maps, exhibitor packets, signage, and badges

• Plan and execute Application Assistance Days and manage participant profiles on the CLC

website

• Coordinate LetterWest presenter and workshop instructor schedules; review presentations and

prepare all materials and supplies

• Train and support Zone Managers, Workshop Assistants, Volunteers, and other staff on-site

• Provide excellent customer service to all participating artisans throughout each event, checking in

daily and resolving issues in a timely manner

• Attend and actively support the DIY Festival, Holiday Market, Makers Mart, and LetterWest as a

core CLC team member, assisting with setup, on-site coordination, and breakdown

• Lead Unity Initiative programming, including Application Fee Support, Application Assistance

Days, and the Artisan Scholarship and Mentor Program


Craft Workshops

• Lead the planning, curation, and execution of dozens of community-based craft workshops per

year

• Recruit, hire, train, and pay workshop instructors

• Oversee registration, attendee communications, supply management, and event logistics

• Curate and manage on-site workshop programming for annual events

• Verify timelines, budgets, and agreements for all workshop-related activity

• Create marketing materials, write class descriptions, update web content, and take product

photos

• Produce post-workshop reports for all stakeholders, venue partners, and grant reporting


Outdoor Exhibitions — Celebration of the Hand (COTH)

• Curate and coordinate the Celebration of the Hand outdoor exhibition

• Collaborate with artists, sponsors, partners, and representatives from local organizations

• Oversee production and installation processes as needed

• Coordinate exhibition walks and discussions, virtually or in-person


Business Academy — Support Role

• Assist the Education Coordinator with logistics and coordination for Business Academy

programming as needed

Organizational Collaboration

• Work with the Development Coordinator to provide data for grant applications and reports

• Work closely with Craft Lake City board members and committees on various initiatives as

needed


QUALIFICATIONS

• Positive attitude and passion for Utah's local creative community

• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail

• Customer service experience; comfortable engaging with artisans, sponsors, and community

partners

• Experience managing events, programming, or arts administration strongly preferred

• Ability to professionally represent Craft Lake City across a variety of audiences and settings

• Comfortable building and maintaining relationships with artisans, sponsors, and stakeholders

• Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and social media a plus

• Flexible, team-oriented, and open to constructive feedback


REQUIREMENTS

• Must attend all required meetings and trainings

• Must commit to 40 scheduled hours per week, with increased hours during event seasons

• Must be a self-starter who can be counted on to complete projects from start to finish

• Must have a personal laptop and cell phone

• Must have personal transportation to move supplies to off-site events

• Must be comfortable lifting chairs, tables, and event supplies
