About Trauma-Informed Utah:
Trauma-Informed Utah (TIU) is a not-for-profit organization (501(c)3), built on 8+ years of dedicated work by partners across Utah to establish formal statewide assistance for organizations and businesses seeking to implement a trauma-informed approach. While the organization is new, the community desire for these services amongst Utah interestholders is strong and well-established. TIU provides research, education, technical assistance, and community networking services to help expand the application of trauma-informed approaches across Utah. About the Position:
Trauma-Informed Utah helps organizations and businesses learn about, integrate, and adopt inclusive trauma-informed approaches at the organizational level, including operations, policies and procedures, managerial practices, and program development. This position will work to assist the Program Director, as well as the Executive and Deputy Directors with the implementation of organizational goals through community partnerships, and contribute to the development and realization of TIU’s strategic plan as part of a dynamic team. They will coordinate operations behind TIU’s work and will support the TIU team in providing community programs and services. Additionally, they will streamline programmatic operations, help track TIU’s efficacy as a program, coordinate community communication, and support program growth and development.
About the Desired Candidate:
The Associate Program Director of TIU will be focused and detail-oriented, prepared to support continuing a strong foundation to further TIU’s mission in the community. This person will have a substantial working knowledge of a trauma-informed approach and how it is applied at an organizational level. This includes both the impacts of adversity and trauma on individuals, communities, and systems, as well as the power of building community resilience and prevention efforts. This candidate will bring a macro social work approach to their work, understanding and appreciating broader advocacy, organizational approaches, and systems change. This candidate will have strong people and communication skills, allowing them to effectively collaborate with TIU staff, key community interest holders, and any organization interested in becoming more trauma-informed. They will have a comprehensive, working knowledge of processes for coordinating programs and streamlining operations. They will have an appreciation for conducting program evaluations with a strong working knowledge of data collection, analysis, and incorporation into program design. They will have experience training in front of a large group. They will enjoy working with others, being a valued part of the team, creating and maintaining organized systems, and have strong communication skills. Lastly, this person must be willing to embrace and navigate the ambiguity of growing within a developing organization!
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with other TIU staff to deliver on Trauma-Informed Utah’s four main service areas: education, technical assistance, research, and community collaboration.
- Work with other TIU staff to increase public awareness of the trauma-informed approach and TIU services through public speaking engagements, presentations, community engagements, conferences, and organizational implementation of systems change efforts.
- Contribute to building and modeling a collaborative, inclusive, and responsive trauma-informed workplace, internal operations, programs, services, and external partnerships.
- Uphold TIU’s mission, strategic plan, operational goals, staff development, service delivery, financial sustainability, and community relationships.
- Commit to quality, ensuring that program offerings, communications, and technical assistance offered are of the highest quality and professionalism.
- Proactively monitor project progress to meet deadlines and achieve results.
- Support all elements of program delivery, including:
- Coordination and distribution of regular community communication and engagement,
- Administrative tasks as assigned ie, evaluations/feedback tracking, performance, event coordination, and agency efforts,
- Development of tracking systems for schedule of services, building and engaging service audiences, and resources,
- Tracking of grantor requirements,
- Supervision and engagement of volunteers in service delivery.

Essential Qualifications:
- Foundational knowledge of the neurobiology of traumatic stress; the bio-psycho-social-cultural etiology of trauma; the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study;
- Familiarity with SAMHSA’s Concept on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Approach and other trauma-informed frameworks;
- Strong background in training and facilitation skills;
- Experience with data collection and program evaluation;
- Master’s degree (social work preference or related field) and at least 3 years post-graduate experience OR 6+ years professional experience working in nonprofits, public policy, social services, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience;
- Willingness and ability to travel independently, both in-state and nationally;
- Valid Driver's license and vehicle transportation (mileage will be reimbursed).
Position Specs
The Associate Program Director is a full-time, salaried (exempt) position, supervised by the Executive Director. The salary is negotiable ($65,000 to $75,000) depending on experience. The candidate is expected to reside within the state of Utah. The benefits package will be determined in collaboration with the TIU Board of Directors to best fit the needs of the Associate Program Director candidate. Benefits to be considered include:
