BOARD MEMBER RECRUITMENT AT THE GREEN URBAN LUNCH BOX

Are you passionate about food justice and interested in volunteering your time and experience to The Green Urban Lunch Box (GULB)?  We are recruiting interested candidates to apply to join the Board of GULB! 


We are specifically looking for candidates with experience and expertise in the following areas:

- Fundraising and organizational development

- Farming or agriculture programmatic management

- Food or local related profit or non-profit community partnerships

- Finance and accounting

- Legal

- Human resources


POSITION SUMMARY

The Board of the Green Urban Lunch Box is tasked with strategic and financial planning for the organization. Board members serve a two year term with a maximum of two terms, and we expect a time investment of between 3 and 8 hours per month consisting of contributions in the following areas

- Attending the board meeting and a subcommittee meeting (~2 hours monthly)

- Meeting preparation (~2 hours monthly)

- Participation in GULB community events or volunteering with one of GULB’s programs (~2 hours monthly)

- Participating in networking, outreach, and community connections to fundraise or advance the mission of GULB (~2 hours monthly)


Individual board member responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- A personally meaningful annual contribution

- Active participation in fundraising efforts

- Organizational strategic and financial planning

- Leveraging your skills and networks to improve GULB

- Advancing equity and inclusion

- Service on at least one board sub-committee 

- Robust preparation for meetings

Organization Mission : At GULB, our mission is to empower people to connect to food and their community by revitalizing urban spaces and building a resilient food culture. We envision a strong network of communities centered around the cultivation of fresh, healthy food. To achieve this, GULB works to grow and gather food along the Wasatch Front through producing food on our small farm in South Salt Lake, educating and inspiring the next generation of farmers through the Small Farm Initiative, and farming in senior community members' backyards in our Back-Farms program. We also work to equitably distribute food by gleaning local produce in our FruitShare program and donating food through our free farmers markets at senior centers.
