Board members of The INN Between ensure ongoing operational integrity, relevance of the mission and the funding required for continuing to serve the homeless suffering from a medical crisis.


Time Commitment:

12 meetings per year; 60-90 minutes each, special event attendance (strongly recommended);10 hours per year, additional board volunteer work-varies. Board term is three years.

Qualifications: 

·   Passion for The INN Between’s mission and the services it provides to the community. 

·   An absence of a conflict of interest

·   Collaborative working style

·   Respect for the outcomes of official votes

·   Willingness to understand and respect clear boundaries between board authority/business and the authority of the Executive Director

·   Availability for meeting attendance on a regular basis

·   Familiarity with policy governance desirable

·   Familiarity with issues related to homelessness desirable

Requirements:

·   18+ Years of Age

·   Must be able to pass a background check 

·   Attend New Volunteer Orientation and Board specific training 

·   Sign required volunteer documents: Department of Human Services Code of Conduct, DWS Code of Conduct and Non-Disclosure Statement, etc.

·   Complete an eVerify background check

·   Track volunteer hours in Volgistics (Volunteer Management Software)  

Training Commitment: 

·   New Volunteer Induction – 1 Hour

·   Tour of Facility with Executive Director – 1 Hours

·   Fundraising for Board Members – 3 Hours

·   Position Specific Training 

Duties

·   Ensure mission, vision and values are always being reflected in the services and strategic goals 

·   Contribute to the selection, support and evaluation of the Executive Director

·   Ensure integrity and transparency of all financial management is consistent with the obligations of a 501(c)(3)

·   Take responsibility for knowledge about and agreement with the mission, ensuring support of the organization in the community

·   Ensure compliance with the highest ethical standards of conduct and law in all business/professional aspects of the organization

·   Ensures and participate in recruitment and orientation of new board members, adherence to a policy governance model and assessment of board effectiveness

·   Actively participate in board meetings, taking responsibility for meeting preparedness, discussion and decision-making.

·   Participate in the organization’s development efforts according to ability and personal comfort with fundraising
