GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the Child Care Manager, is responsible for assisting in the planning, development and implementation of child care programs. Assist Child Care Manager to provide a safe, healthy, educational environment for children receiving services from the agency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shall implement an early childhood development program that stimulates the social, cognitive, physical and emotional growth of the children attending child care.
  • Assist in developing written objectives, work plans and performance standards for program activities.
  • Maintain and provide any required data for reports for the Child Care Manager. Relate pertinent information to the Child Care Manager on a regular basis.
  • Keep parents informed of the children's activities, to include involving parents in the developmental process and help the parents experience a part of their child's day.
  • Analyze the room's functions, procedures and programs in order to identify problems and recommend appropriate solutions to the Child Care Manager.
  • Ensure room's compliance with local, state and federal regulations as necessary.
  • Stays abreast of the latest child care techniques; adapts and implements them to meet the needs of the children, the room and the Center.
  • Assist with all age groups with supervision, discipline and interaction when necessary.
  • Assist in the daily maintenance of the center by cleaning and sanitizing on a daily basis.
  • Obtain approved on-going early childhood development training in order to meet state licensing requirements.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures stated in the Employee Handbook and any applicable Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High School Diploma or GED with CDA certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the field of early childhood development is preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship-building and employee coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy in order to engage and assist the children.
  • Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with families and other department staff.
  • High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility.
  • Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving the organization's goals and objectives.

  • Work is generally performed in a child care facility.
  • Frequently required to stand, sit, crawl, bend, push, pull; sometimes may need to lift up to 50 lbs.
