Children's Services Coordinator

Peace House is a charitable organization dedicated to ending interpersonal violence, including sexual assault and abuse, and empowering survivors to heal and thrive by providing support services, safe housing, and prevention education. The Children's Services Coordinator manages the day-to-day delivery of all programs and activities involving children receiving services at Peace House. The Children's Services Coordinator ensures that all staff and volunteers implementing Children's Services programming are appropriately trained and supported.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring communication with parents regarding their child's progress, development, behavioral issues, and any relevant topics

• Training and supervising staff members to ensure they have the skills needed to effectively care for children

• Coordinating with child advocates, therapists, and other professionals who work with children, as well as other staff members, to ensure proper care of children

• Identifying children who display any behavioral concerns or challenges and referring them to other professionals for evaluation and treatment

• Monitor delivery of ongoing training, evidence-based practices, interventions, and standards of care to support advocacy, childcare and activities for children engaged in Peace House programs.

• Oversee the delivery and follow up of child safety planning services, partnering closely with parents and guardians to ensure plans are implemented effectively and in alignment with licensing requirements.

• Maintain and oversee proper record keeping for program participation and youth attendance by inputting data into the Peace House electronic medical records system.

• Provide program-related data to the administrative team to support operations and success of children's services

• Recruit and supervise for the Child Advocate position(s) with the support of the Chief Programs Officer.

• Serve as the primary day to day liaison for key MOU partnerships, ensuring coordination and collaboration to enhance services for children

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with agency staff and any other organizations, individuals, and community partners important to the success of Peace House's work

• Occasional attendance at special events related to fundraising, community outreach, and youth engagement, as requested by the executive leadership team

REPORTS TO: Chief Programs Officer



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


• Bachelor's level degree in early childhood development, youth development field or experience in early education with an emphasis on early childhood development

• Capability to serve childhood populations who have witnessed abuse or experienced interpersonal violence

• Ability to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of children's programming

• Ability to provide direct services and step into program delivery as needed

• Ability to execute program priorities and projects as directed by the Chief Program Office

• Proficiency in coaching on implementing child programming

• Demonstrate success to de-escalate parents and guardians

• Proven success in guiding children to navigate their emotional needs

• Must be able to pass a background check

• Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to get training within the first month of employment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Masters in early childhood development or closely related field

• NAEYC accreditation experience and/ core competency of NAEYC standards of care

• Demonstrated experience applying an equity lens to child services

• Experience working with adult primary and secondary survivors of interpersonal violence

• Familiarity with childcare licensing or residential licensing rules as outlined by the Department of Health and Human Services

• Bilingual in English and Spanish


WORK ENVIRONMENT


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this job, when working with children, the employee is regularly required to: Stand, reach, bend down, kneel, sit, walk, run, crouch, talk, and listen/hear.

• While performing administrative duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

• Light to moderate lifting is required (up to 50 lbs.)

• Additional physical demands include serving snacks, light cleaning duties (wiping tables/ counters, sweeping, dishes, and kid-created messes). Ability to maintain professionalism and uphold the stress of some work-related secondary trauma exposure.

• Regular, predictable attendance is required; some travel related to attending offsite meetings is anticipated.
