Clinical Director

Admin/Operations Human Services Management

The Clinical Director is responsible for leadership of the team of 30 + sexual assault nurse examiners (SANEs) who provide compassionate forensic care, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, to victims of sexual and interpersonal violence throughout Salt Lake, Summit, Utah and Wasatch Counties in Utah. The Clinical Director reports to the Board of Directors of Wasatch Forensic Nurses (WFN) and leads the program collaboratively with the Executive Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- This position is 80% administrative in Salt Lake City, UT

- Hiring, supervision, and on-going training of SANEs on the Wasatch Forensic Nurses (WFN) team

- Quality Assurance of performance of WFN SANEs

- Serve as a liaison between Administration and the nursing team

- Serve as a liaison between community partners

- Develop and update clinical policies

- Provide guidance/instruction for clinical issues/questions that arise

- Collaborates with executive director for responsibility and leadership of team meetings


Minimum Expectations (equivalent to a full-time position):

- 32 hours/week administrative responsibilities

- Actively participates in on-call responsibility for forensic cases with a minimum of eight 4-hour call shifts/month

- Provides scheduled in-office nurse coverage 1 days/ week minimum

- Other responsibilities or duties may be identified


Required Licenses/Certifications:

- Unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the United States with the ability to obtain a license in the state of Utah upon hiring

- Strongly preferred Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, Adult-Adolescent certification (would consider related forensic experience with willingness to acquire SANE training)


Minimum Education and Experience Required:

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required. Master’s preferred.

- Minimum 2 years practice as an RN with patient assessment skills experience.

- Minimum 2 years leadership experience, including involvement in hiring, teaching, training and evaluation.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

-Education and/or clinical experience in Forensic Nursing (adolescents, and adults SANE specific preferred).

-Facilitate and steer special projects.

-Ability to communicate and present to large groups.

-Ability to teach skill and education methodology.

-Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.

-Ability to handle situations involving crisis situations while remaining calm and diplomatic.

-Ability to work as part of a collaborative team as well as independently while using quality decision making skills.

-Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals and organizations.

-Maintain a mature professional attitude combined with a compassionate nature.

-Computer skills (google drive, Microsoft office suite, e-mail, Adobe suite, PC/Mac familiarity, etc.).

-Phone and typing skills.


Additional Requirements:

-Clear national criminal background check required.

-Expected hours: 40 hours per week
