Title: Clinical Therapist
Department: Clinical
Location: Generally located at the Salt Lake County Site with travel to other sites as needed.
Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor
Category: Full time (40+ hours per week as needed)
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Pay: $27-30 for Associate; $30-35 for fully licensed
Schedule: Typically, Monday – Friday 900am – 500pm. However, flexibility in days/time worked is required to facilitate group meetings and accommodate client schedules. Evening/weekend work may be required.
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Clinical Therapist provides mental health services to clients including individual, family, and group therapy for residents of the Shelter and individuals at community sites. The Clinical Therapist provides clients with the emotional support needed during their time at the Shelter and referrals when they exit the Shelter. For clients served at the community sites, appropriate referrals will be made after a maximum of 15 sessions with the Clinical Therapist. The SVS clinical team provides therapy in our West Jordan Shelter and at multiple Community Resource Centers throughout Salt Lake County.
South Valley Services (SVS) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide options to anyone who has experienced domestic and sexual violence. SVS provides free and confidential services including emergency shelter, safe housing, trauma-informed counseling, advocacy, and tools for life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide mentorship for clinical interns.
- Assist with training/presentation for all-staff trainings and other departmental meetings.
- Provide support/education on clinical-related issues to other departments upon request.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
- Fully licensed LCSW, CMHC, or MFT or provisionally licensed CSW or ACMHC.
- Experience (minimum one year) working with clients who have experienced trauma.
- Experience facilitating therapeutic and psychoeducational groups.
- Experience working with co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with SVS staff from multiple departments, community partners, and clients.
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and with fluency in English.
- Ability to work remotely and/or at community sites with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage client caseloads and other projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Achieve and maintain eligible status on Direct Access Clearance System (DACS) Background Check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Fully licensed preferred.
- Trauma-informed training and/or experience working with families in crisis.
- Experience working in a non-profit human services environment, especially in
- domestic violence services.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The working environment is varied. Office work in the Shelter and the Community Resource Center is required as well as regular travel to community locations to meet with clients.
Some remote work is allowed. However, the Clinical Therapist must report in person on Wednesday for staff meeting at the Community Resource Center. Participation in open-door clinical hours for two hours weekly at the WJ Shelter is required. Remote/in-person sessions will vary depending on client needs. Flexibility is required.
Facilitation of Shelter groups is required as needed. Travel to assist at Tooele County locations is required as needed.
Responsible for own travel to various locations as needed/assigned.
