Computer Assistant

Admin/Operations Customer Service

Provides computer support by troubleshooting and correcting problems with computer hardware or software applications. Installs and upgrades computer hardware and software applications. Maintains databases, network accounts and programs for specific department needs. Serves as a help desk resource for assigned areas. Requires sound judgment, ingenuity, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-friendly attitude.

Red Butte Garden is accessible via several bus routes that stop in Research Park and at the University Medical Center, as well as the Trax Red line, followed by a short walk or on-demand university campus shuttle. The campus shuttle offers a direct line to Red Butte Garden via the Sunnyside Route.


Responsibilities:

  • Effectively, professionally, and respectfully represent the entire IT staff and their services to staff, patrons, and associates of Red Butte Garden.
  • Setup and support of concert/event systems, including computers, printers, barcode scanners, wireless wi-fi access points.
  • Administrate and support IT systems, applications, and services. Support may include answering questions, troubleshooting problems, teaching or instructing users regarding software or hardware functionality, and communicating policy.
  • Administrate and deploy devices, software updates, patches, scripts, and licenses.
  • Monitor computers and IT systems to ensure security and integrity of systems and data.
  • Document IT systems configurations and procedures. Document issue resolutions.
  • Maintain inventory of hardware and track device checkouts.
  • Support IT systems during events, typically late afternoon, and evening, in outdoor summer weather.
  • Execute IT related projects as assigned by IT Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in a computer related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Two years of related experience preferred. Demonstrated computer skills, human relations and effective communication skills are required.


Preferences:

  • 2+ years of direct IT support experience preferred; Patience, a positive, customer-friendly attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience administrating and supporting Windows and macOS systems preferred.
  • Familiarity of networking concepts and computer server systems.
  • Familiarity of computer printers and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work in varying outdoor climatic conditions during spring, summer, and fall, as well as crowded concert events with loud music.
