Corporate Engagement Manager

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Corporate Engagement Manager (CEM) is responsible for leading a strategic plan to increase retention and growth of the corporate donor base, including workplace campaign donors, community-based organizations, and volunteers. With the support of a direct report (Corporate Engagement Coordinator) they will manage and solicit a portfolio of current and prospective corporate partners. The CEM will lead UWSL’s volunteer engagement initiatives, volunteer events, and partnerships. The CEM will plan and oversee the execution of large-scale, community-wide volunteer engagement opportunities as well as smaller corporate volunteer events, both of which effectively support UWSL’s mission and goals and increase participants’ affinity for UWSL. This role plays a key part in creating impactful experiences and deeper alignment with corporate philanthropic values, further positioning UWSL as an expert in community investment and employee engagement.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Corporate Partnership and Sponsorship Development 

  1. Cultivate and solicit current and prospective donors with strong executive-level attention through personal contact, including phone calls, email, written correspondence, and visits (setting appointments and meetings). 
  2. Lead and project manage marketing materials and other campaign collateral to be used with corporate employee giving campaigns as well as corporate/special event sponsorship materials. 
  3. Support new business prospecting, networking, and engagement with the Vice President of Donor Engagement. 
  4. Oversee all sponsorship stewardship, including strategy and implementation, to ensure promised sponsorship benefit fulfillment. 

Event Planning and Execution 

  1. Act as lead volunteer coordinator and intern manager for all UWSL signature Year of Action volunteer events and activities (Read Across America Day, Stuff the Bus, Day of Caring). 
  2. Plan and execute employee volunteer engagement events for corporate partners that are aligned with their interests and UWSL’s mission, as well as provide support and leadership to help ensure all engagement opportunities are effective, efficient, and meaningful. 

Volunteer Program Management 

  1. Develop and maintain volunteer-donor relationships with corporations, working alongside the Promise Partnership Utah (PPU) team to find alignment and connect companies and their employees to one-time or recurring volunteer opportunities.  
  2. Advise the volunteer engagement communication strategy to identify new ways of messaging volunteerism, identifying new opportunities to communicate with different audiences, and identifying opportunities to segment the volunteer base and target specific asks individuals. 
  3. Oversee donation drives and in-kind efforts with the Promise Partnership team that benefit UWSL’s community schools and partners. 
  4. Develop and implement new strategies and best practices to strengthen resource development results for volunteerism via conversion to new individual donors, increased corporate gifts, employee giving campaigns, grants, event sponsorships, in-kind donations, and more 

Employee Workplace Engagement: Giving Campaigns  

  1. Lead and manage employee giving campaigns for corporate partners, ensuring successful execution, high participation rates, and growth year-over-year. 
  2. Represent UWSL by attending industry functions such as association events, chambers, and conferences to cultivate relationships with key corporate decision makers. 

Reporting and Communication 

  1. Establish, monitor, and report fundraising goals and revenue to Resource Development leadership; prepare information for meetings with high-level executives; maintain accurate records, develop and manage related processes 
  2. Support the analysis of workplace campaign data to better improve results year over year, and to further transition campaign donors to long-term United Way of Salt Lake partners/advocates 
  3. Oversee the capture and analysis of volunteer engagement data for Year of Action events, school/center events, ongoing volunteers, Volunteer Action Network members, corporate volunteers, and individual volunteers. Collaborate with individual engagement teams to ensure that individual and corporate giving strategies align. 
  4. Perform other duties as assigned 
Requirements

 REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills; ability to establish, cultivate and steward strong connections with donors, potential donors, and stakeholders to build and maintain lifelong partnerships and trust with UWSL.
  • Ability to develop and execute fundraising/workplace giving strategies and plans that integrate into the organization's mission, priorities, and goals. 
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset with an inclination for learning, continuous improvement, and action to achieve goals.
  • Understands marketplace, works to meet prospect/donor needs, has effective closing technique.
  • Passion for community impact and social responsibility. 
  • Strong presentation skills and able to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. 
  • Results-driven with strong project management and organizational skills 


QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience, success, and progressive responsibility in fundraising 
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Google Suites – proven skill in Excel  
  • Experience using CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software; Salesforce preferred 
  • Bachelor's or master's degree or relevant experience preferred  


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

The team member is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone and via other devices. The team member must be able to transcribe, take in new information, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The team member is required to regularly travel to offsite locations to set-up presentations and displays in physical and electronic mediums. The team member must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs. 

The employee is required to work primarily in-person, in our UP offices during core business hours Monday – Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays. Utah’s Promise is currently piloting a 36-hour work week with Friday afternoons off.  


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS  

The position is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. $42,828-72,000. Salary commensurate with experience. UWSL/UP provides a wide range of benefits, including:
