Creative Production Builder (Dreamscapes)
The Utah Arts Alliance (UAA) is looking for one or more skilled builders to help build out Dreamscapes 4.0 at The Gateway Mall. This is a temporary position of 4-12 weeks (depending on the skill set and availability of the builder); there may be an opportunity for this to be converted into a permanent position. We are looking for builders who can start as soon as possible. The builder must be experience in building such things as walls, ceilings, doorways, and ceilings and be comfortable using relevant power tools; experience with installing lighting and/or sounds systems is a plus. Must be able to troubleshoot, work independently, be a team player, and be efficient with time. UAA is flexible about number of weeks, number of hours per week (can range from 15-40 hours a week) and what days and times you work; please list your preference in your application and we can discuss during your interview.

REPORTS TO: Dreamscapes Manager
Executes the work schedule laid out by Dreamscapes Manager.
A minimum of weekly check-in meetings with the direct Manager.
Reports to Program/Facilities Managers as needed.
GENERAL
EXHIBITION SET UP & MAINTENANCE (1) Prep and maintain venues for exhibits and events, (2) Build assistant to Managers, (3) Ongoing maintenance of facilities; cleaning, upkeep (4) Keep apprised of the needed fixes and issues for solving within Dreamscapes and its facilities.
ASSISTS IN INVENTORY LEAD (1) Donation pick-ups and unloading of supplies, (2) Manage inventory, storage and supplies, (3) Help determine what new items are required for inventory.
MATERIALS COORDINATION (1) Review and input to necessary material lists, (2) Help create and uphold systems of organization and the use of tools and materials. (3) Use a computer for spreadsheets and email communications (4) Possibly work extended hours moving and lifting large assets.
CREATIVE BUILDS (1) Create decorative and practical builds as needed, (2) Fabricate patterns and templates to aid in design work, (3) Work with power tools and other machinery, (4) Attend creative meetings and participate in logistics discussions.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Problem-solving, efficiency, self-motivation, prioritization, versatility, punctuality, clear communication, adaptability, and follow through
Basic knowledge of tools and equipment and how to use them safely
Trained in workplace safety and able to train others/implement safety measures
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and possibly large awkward pieces
Leadership of a work team, and positive collaboration
Mentor others and help instruct and oversee safety standards
Organization and maintenance experience is a plus
Experience with large equipment and power tools is a plus
Knowledge around tech & electronics a plus
Reliable transportation, work on-site at the Dreamscapes location
Ability to work independently and with a team
Basic to Intermediate professional painting, woodworking and metal fabrication is a plus
Valid Driver’s License, able to drive a box truck, back-up and hook up a trailer,
