Development Director

Fundraising and Development

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Development Director provides strategic leadership for all fundraising, donor engagement, marketing, and communications efforts to advance the mission of YCC Family Crisis Center. In partnership with the Executive Director, this role drives revenue growth, strengthens community relationships, and builds a sustainable culture of philanthropy that supports survivors and their families.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Fund Development

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive development strategy across individual, corporate, foundation, and government funding streams
  • Establish and drive annual revenue goals in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Build and sustain a strong culture of philanthropy across the organization, engaging board members, staff, and volunteers in fundraising efforts

Donor Engagement & Stewardship

  • Cultivate, steward, and expand relationships with current and prospective donors
  • Oversee donor communications, recognition, and stewardship strategies to ensure meaningful and lasting engagement
  • Manage and optimize the donor database (DonorPerfect), ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and data-informed decision making

Grants & Institutional Funding

  • Provide leadership and oversight of grant development, including proposal strategy, review, and submission
  • Ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements in partnership with program and finance staff
  • Support cross-functional collaboration to align funding opportunities with programmatic priorities

Marketing, Communications & Public Relations

  • Direct all marketing, communications, and public relations efforts to strengthen community awareness and support
  • Ensure all messaging reflects YCC’s mission, values, and trauma-informed approach
  • Oversee branding, website, social media, and external communications to elevate visibility and engagement

Events & Community Engagement

  • Lead planning and execution of key fundraising events, including the gala, summer soirée, and golf tournament
  • Represent YCC in the community through speaking engagements, partnerships, and outreach opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and supporters

Leadership & Organizational Collaboration

  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy, planning, and decision making
  • Supervise and support development staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team
  • Partner with finance and program leadership to align funding strategies with organizational needs and impact




QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business administration, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising and development leadership
  • Demonstrated success securing funding from foundations, corporations, government, and individual donors
  • Experience developing and executing multi-channel fundraising strategies
  • Strong leadership and staff supervision experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with donor databases (DonorPerfect preferred) and Microsoft Office
  • Deep commitment to social justice and understanding of trauma-informed work
  • Strong organizational, strategic thinking, and time management skills




ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard physical demands
