Development Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Manager is part of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah’s (BBBSU) Leadership Team, overseeing the daily execution of fundraising strategies, across individual giving, corporate sponsorships, events, and foundation giving. The position supervises the grant writing and event planning team members, working closely with them to ensure that annual revenue goals are met.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual / Alumni Giving
- Create and execute a monthly giving program.
- Oversee Workplace Giving, fundraising campaigns and individual giving drives (Giving Tuesday, LivePC GivePC).
- Manage and steward a portfolio of individual donors with annual gifts less than $1,000.
- Create and drive an alumni plan around fundraising in conjunction with other Leadership Team members who work to create alumni involvement in other areas of the agency.
- Support and guide satellite fundraising committees.
Corporate and Foundation Partnerships
- Supervise Grants Coordinator -providing clear direction, mentorship, and performance management to ensure agreed upon budgets for foundation and corporate grant giving is met.
- Support prospect research efforts and development pipeline.
- Manage 3rd party fundraising opportunities.
- Manage and drive National Partnership opportunities in conjunction with other appropriate Leadership Team members.
- Oversee workplace giving programs and donor matching opportunities.
Events
- Supervise Event Coordinator – providing clear direction, mentorship and performance management to ensure that annual event budgets and goals are met.
- Help to secure and steward event sponsors for BBBSU’s three signature events, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Golf Fore Kids’ Sake, and Big Night Out.
Leadership and Culture
- Participate as a member of the BBBSU Leadership Team partnering with Program Managers to maintain current understanding of outcomes and stories of impact.
- Partner with Chief Development Officer to develop annual fundraising strategies, stewardship plans, and annual budgets.
- Partner with Marketing Manager to align donor communications and campaign goals.
- Monitor and report on fundraising KPIs and metrics in Matchforce Fundraising platform.
- Represent BBBSU at community events and networking opportunities.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Annual budgets for events, individual, corporate, and foundation giving.
- Alumni campaign participation.
- Monthly giving campaign participation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, business, communications or related field.
- 5 + years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with CRM systems, fundraising software, and donor segmentation strategies.
