Position Summary Information


Job Summary:


Reporting to the Lead Advancement Officer, this role at the J. Willard Marriott Library is responsible for helping manage many of our day-to-day fundraising operations. This role manages donor engagement events, volunteer boards, annual giving, and donor stewardship. This role is also critical in supporting the Lead Advancement Officer’s major gift work by helping identify and maintain a pool of prospective donors. The successful candidate will help assess program needs, develop case statements, identify and cultivate prospects, and manage giving campaigns. The Marriott Library is recognized as one of the most visited, trusted, and accessible places on campus, both in person and online. Our technologically advanced spaces serve as hubs for innovation and skill development and cater to the community's evolving needs. We take pride in housing distinctive programs that enrich the academic landscape and contribute to the scholarly discourse, such as the Book Arts Program, the University of Utah Press, and our Special Collections. This role will play a critical part in supporting the Library’s continued success.


This position is currently designed as a hybrid of on-campus and remote work. Specific telecommuting arrangements will be based on the needs of the position and authorized at the discretion of the supervisor.

Qualifications:


Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.


Responsibilities:


· Plan and coordinate two existing, donor engagement events.


· Lead three volunteer boards by managing board meetings, membership, goals and priorities.


· Identify and cultivate annual and major gift prospects as needed.


· Develop and maintain strong personal relationships with library personnel, board members, and donors through regular communication, meetings, and personalized outreach strategies.


· Create an engagement pipeline for prospective donors.


· Serve as the primary liaison to the University Advancement Annual Giving Team.


· Coordinate with Advancement on appeals and campaigns. mailing lists and track prospects in the UNITE system,


prioritizing cultivation and solicitation efforts based on donor capacity and engagement.


· Working in concert with the Central Advancement Donor Relations Team, execute a best-practices stewardship program including impact reporting, endowment reports, appropriate acknowledgement and recognition of gifts, and maintain a high level of donor engagement.


· Working with the Lead Advancement Officer and the Director of Marketing and Public Relations, create a meaningful annual impact report for library donors and stakeholders.


· Ensure gifts are correctly deposited into the appropriate gift accounts


· Complete other duties assigned by the library’s Lead Advancement Officer.



Preferred Qualifications:


· Demonstrated understanding of strategic solicitation, and the donor cycle.


· Previous experience working in a university or a cultural heritage institution.
