Supervisor: Principal
Employment Type: 30 hours/week
Exempt (187-day school calendar)
$45,000-$50,000 annually, benefits are year-round
Position Summary
Guadalupe Charter School seeks a passionate, creative, and skilled Elementary Art Teacher to inspire students through visual arts education. The Art Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging art instruction aligned with Utah Core Fine Arts Standards and the school’s mission. This position encourages self-expression, cultural understanding, and creativity in students while building foundational skills in various art techniques and media.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
●Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate art lessons for elementary students, aligned with state Arts standards and school curriculum.
●Foster creativity and artistic expression through diverse media, styles, and cultural perspectives.
●Develop and adapt instruction to meet the needs of individual learners.
●Incorporate art history, contemporary art, and multicultural content into lessons.
●Integrate technology as a tool for instruction, creation, and classroom management.
●Provide constructive feedback and track student progress and skill development.
●Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and at events.
Classroom Management & Environment
●Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful art studio environment.
● Establish clear expectations for behavior, care of materials, and responsible artmaking.
● Encourage experimentation while maintaining structure and safety in the art room.
● Implement classroom routines and procedures that promote independence and collaboration.
Collaboration & Community Engagement
● Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate art into cross-curricular projects.
● Engage families and the community through student art exhibits and events.
● Support the school’s mission by participating in school-wide activities and initiatives.
● Work with volunteers and parents to enhance the art program and community involvement.
Professionalism & Growth
● Attend professional development and stay current with art education practices and trends.
● Reflect on teaching practices and pursue continuous improvement.
● Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
● Uphold all Guadalupe School policies and procedures.
● Collaborate with other faculty and staff to support student success.
Qualifications
● Valid Utah Educator License with Art endorsement (K-6 or K-12).
● Visual Arts Endorsement or willingness to obtain one.
● Strong foundation in a variety of visual art techniques, tools, and media.
● Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
● Capacity to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
● Willingness to grow professionally and participate in ongoing training.
● Ability to manage a classroom and studio setting efficiently and safely.
