Engagement Coordinator
POSITION OVERVIEW
Craft Lake City is seeking a dynamic and community-centered Community Engagement Coordinator to lead communications, social media, and volunteer programming across the organization. This role serves as a key voice and connector for Craft Lake City — managing how the organization communicates with its community, recruiting and coordinating volunteers for major events, and providing cross-departmental support for ticketing, youth programming, outdoor exhibitions, and craft workshops. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about amplifying the stories of Utah's local creative community. This is a full-time, contract position with a weekly commitment of 40 hours, beginning immediately upon hiring. Hours increase in the lead-up to major events. The Community Engagement Coordinator is required to be on-site for the full duration of the DIY Festival, Holiday Market, Makers Mart, and LetterWest, including setup and breakdown. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications — Internal & External Develop and manage internal communications to keep the CLC team aligned and informed across departments Draft, edit, and distribute external-facing communications including newsletters, announcements, partner correspondence, and community updates
Maintain consistent brand voice across all written materials and channels
Draft thank-you notes, outreach emails, and other organizational correspondence
Support CLC staff with copywriting, editing, and communication needs across programs and events Manage and monitor all incoming communication channels including the Tidio live chat inbox, organizational voicemail inbox, and ManyChat automated messaging — ensuring timely, on-brand responses across all platforms Marketing Serve as the key lead for CLC marketing meetings, setting agendas, facilitating discussions, and ensuring alignment across programs and communications Collaborate with CLC staff to develop and execute marketing strategies that promote events, programs, and organizational initiatives
Social Media Lead the planning, creation, and scheduling of content across Craft Lake City's social media platforms
Create engaging posts, stories, and graphics that reflect CLC's mission and amplify local makers
Monitor community engagement and respond to comments and messages in a timely, on-brand manner
Collaborate with program staff to highlight events, workshops, exhibitors, and organizational milestones
Track performance metrics and adjust strategy based on insights
Manage and lead the social media intern team
Volunteer Coordination Lead recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers for major Craft Lake City events including the DIY Festival, Holiday Market, Makers Mart, and LetterWest
Provide on-site support and guidance for volunteers during events
Manage volunteer benefits, recognition initiatives, and appreciation events
Develop and distribute volunteer communications and post-event satisfaction surveys
Support — Ticketing Assist with coordinating ticketing systems, event setup, reporting, and reconciliation
Support — Youth Entrepreneur Program (YEP) Support the Education Coordinator with Kid Row participant outreach and event-day coordination as needed
Assist with communications and documentation for youth programming partners and participants
Support — COTH, LV & Craft Workshops
Assist the Artisan Coordinator and Education Coordinator with promotion, communications, and logistics for outdoor exhibitions and craft workshops as needed
Serve as a public representative of Craft Lake City at virtual and in-person events
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
Experience managing social media platforms and creating content; familiarity with scheduling tools a plus
Skilled at volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and engagement
Positive, approachable attitude with a genuine interest in Utah's creative community
Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Customer service experience; comfortable serving as a public-facing representative of the organization
Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Eventbrite, or similar tools a plus Experience with ticketing or CRM systems a plus
Flexible, collaborative, and open to taking on a variety of tasks in a nonprofit environment REQUIREMENTS
Must attend all required meetings and trainings Must commit to 40 scheduled hours per week, with increased hours during event seasons
Must be a self-starter who can be counted on to complete projects from start to finish
Must have a personal laptop and cell phone
Must have personal transportation to move supplies to off-site events
Must be comfortable lifting chairs, tables, and event supplies
