Position Title: Executive Director

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Full or part-time status: This is a full-time, exempt position. The general schedule will consist of 32 hours to be worked in the facility Monday through Thursday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. There will be times when evening and weekend work Is required.

Benefits: Utah Diaper Bank offers a generous benefits package including health and dental insurance, immediate vesting in the retirement plan, twelve paid holidays including two floaters and 16 paid time-off days per year.

Hiring Range: $70,000-$75,000 with a performance and pay review after successfully completing a trial period.

Primary Function of Position

This hands-on position oversees the execution of the Utah Diaper Bank’s strategic vision in support of the mission through the management of day-to-day operations. Collaborates with the leadership team (paid and volunteer), community partners, families served, and board to implement strategic plans to develop the Utah Diaper Bank, ensure its long-term viability, and manage stakeholder relationships.


Major Position Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate the following departments, including running the department if the department head position is vacant.

 

Operations

This department is responsible for intake, warehousing, repackaging, and distributing all the diaper inventory.  These responsibilities include all administrative duties needed to accomplish these tasks. The Information Technology resources reside within this department.


Finance

This department tracks and reports on all revenue and expenses, authorizes all expenditures, and submits finance-related information for all government requirements.  It is also responsible for coordinating the annual budget and strategic planning.  Fundraising as well as grant and grant writing functions reside in this department.


Marketing

Manage the Utah Diaper Bank’s image and messaging.  All outside-facing communications are coordinated through this department. Management of the following resources reside within the department: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Web content.


Partner Relations

Build and maintain relationships with the Utah Diaper Bank distribution partners. In conjunction with the operations department, determine ship quantities and mix.  It is also responsible for annual partner reviews and determining in concert with other department heads when a new partner should be added. 


Volunteer Management

Schedules and tracks all volunteer events including diaper wrapping events, diaper shipping events, and various ad hoc events that require volunteer staffing.  Responsibilities include maintaining a volunteer database in Salesforce including hours worked.

Build and maintain a robust fundraising platform that includes identifying potential funders including foundations, corporations, and individuals. This includes funding and grant research and writing.

Nurture relationships with partners, donors, and the National Diaper Bank Network.

Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategy consistent with the diaper bank’s goals, mission, and best practices.

Develop and implement volunteer opportunities for organizations and individuals.

Advocate on behalf of diaper need on a local and national level.

Hire additional staff and develop equity-focused HR policies and practices.

Purchase, track, and manage diaper products inventory.

Ensure compliance with non-profit requirements for financial planning, budgeting, bookkeeping, preparation of IRS 990 Form, etc.  

Other responsibilities as needed.

Work Environment – inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.

Office and warehouse work environments.

Must be able to use a pallet jack.

Physical Demands 

Bending, sitting, lifting (25 pounds), walking, and driving as needed.

Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

A broad range of general business knowledge.

Knowledge of diaper needs and the impact on families.

Education, Training and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Executive Director experience preferred. At a minimum, department head experience in one of the functions overseen by the Executive Director is required.

Fundraising experience including grant writing, government partners, foundations, and corporate groups.

Licenses, certifications, and credentials 

Current Utah driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
