Executive Director

Admin/Operations Human Services Fundraising and Development Outreach and Community Engagement

Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection’s mission is to promote integration, economic self-sufficiency, and positive connections among refugees, immigrants, and the wider community through two-way education, access to existing resources, and development of new services. CRIC’s services have been provided to refugees and immigrants in northern Utah since our founding in 2014, formalizing previous ongoing community efforts. CRIC has continued to grow programs and expand our reach to new American communities. Since 2022, CRIC has been resettling refugees from Afghanistan, Syria, Venezuela, Ethiopia, Guatemala, and other countries through a formal partnership with Church World Service.


Position Summary

The Executive Director (ED) provides strategic and operational leadership of Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection (CRIC). The ED is responsible for the overall program, administration, operations, community outreach, fundraising, and advocacy efforts of the organization.

The ED role is vital in ensuring CRIC provides appropriate support to refugees and immigrants, helping them integrate successfully into their new communities. It is also core to creating messaging and supporting a community that is welcoming for refugees and immigrants. The Executive Director must be a leader who can balance operational efficiency with a deep commitment to social justice.


Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Work with the Board of Trustees to ensure the relevance of the organization’s strategic plan and its alignment with CRIC’s organization’s mission and vision.
  • Lead the implementation of the strategic plan.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive work environment that develops human capital.

Internal Administration

  • Oversee the effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services consistent with evolving client needs, and that are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, and where appropriate, grant requirements.
  • Provide leadership for the implementation of effective financial management practices and procedures including but not limited to budget management and revenue generation.
  • Provide leadership for the development of CRIC’s staff and promote a positive organizational culture.
  • Lead policy development and implementation that support effective operations.

Development

  • Provide leadership of strategic fundraising efforts.
  • Cultivate productive relationships in support of development efforts.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities through grants, partnerships, legislative requests, events, and corporate and individual donor development.

Outreach and Advocacy

  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with local, state, and national partners, including government agencies, nonprofits, and the private sector.
  • Serve as an informed spokesperson for the organization and advocate on matters related to refugee and immigrant rights and needs.
  • Promote awareness of refugee and immigrant issues in the Cache Valley community.

Board Relations

  • Work with the Board of Trustees to position the organization for success.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with board members.
  • Communicate regularly and in a timely manner with the board.
  • Work with the board to ensure its composition and operation provide effective support of the ED.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Public Administration, International Development).
  • Minimum five years progressively increasing leadership experience in social services and non-profit management.
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective financial management, including budget development and grant compliance.
  • Demonstrated evidence of the ability to lead and develop human talent.
  • Proven fundraising abilities and donor relations experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and clients from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations, refugee resettlement, immigrant services, or international development.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to refugee services.
  • Ability to speak and write knowledgeably about issues facing refugee and immigrant communities.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly in languages spoken by the local refugee and immigrant population.
