Executive Director

Admin/Operations Board of Directors Fundraising and Development Management Marketing and Communications Outreach and Community Engagement

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for advancing the mission, vision, and long-term sustainability of the Rape Recovery Center. This role provides overall strategic leadership and executive oversight of the organization’s brand, operations, finances, public policy, and personnel. The ED fosters a trauma-informed and equity-centered organizational culture, maintains accountability to donors and grantors, and serves as a public voice and advocate for survivors of sexual violence.

This is a full-time exempt salary position with a 40-hour workweek, offering full benefits. The salary ranges from $90,000 - $105,000 + bonus eligible, DOE and follows a Monday to Friday schedule (occasional evening and weekend hours as applicable). Benefits include health insurance, retirement match, and a generous time-off policy for paid holidays, paid sick time, and paid vacation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Strategic Leadership & Governance


- Guide the implementation of RRC’s mission and vision through strategic planning, program growth, and values-aligned decision-making.

- Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and execute annual goals, long-range planning, and performance evaluations.

- Cultivate a transparent and trust-based relationship with the Board; ensure timely, accurate reporting and strategic engagement.

- Maintain a working knowledge of sexual violence issues, survivor-centered practices, and legislative impacts.

- Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff, translating Board directives into actionable organizational priorities.


Financial Oversight & Sustainability


- Oversee, in collaboration with the Operations Director, all financial systems, including budgeting, audits, cash flow, and financial reporting.

- Collaborate with the Operations Director and Board Finance Committee to ensure strong fiscal controls, compliance, and forecasting.

- Guide long-term financial planning, capital campaigns, and reserve building.

- Ensure timely submission of grant reports and accurate allocation of grant-funded staff hours.

- Understand the administration of state and federal grants. 

Operations & Facilities Management

- Provide oversight to the Operations Director, ensuring the day-to-day operations of the organization are efficient, compliant, and supportive of program needs.

- Anticipate and respond to emerging issues and crises affecting the organization or community; ensure the safety, continuity, and ethical integrity of RRC operations in all circumstances.

- Maintain oversight of facilities management to ensure a safe, accessible, and trauma-informed environment.

- Support IT, data systems, and organizational infrastructure in collaboration with the Operations Director.

Fund Development & Donor Relations


- Collaborate with the Development Director on fund development strategy, including individual giving, events, sponsorships, government grants, foundation grants, - nd donor cultivation.

- Build relationships with current and potential funders, government entities, and institutional partners.

- Collaborate with the Development Director to implement development plans that meet or exceed revenue goals.

- Experience with a capital campaign. 

Program Oversight & Service Delivery


- Provide strategic guidance to the Associate Director, who oversees all programmatic departments and direct service staff.

- Support the Associate Director in ensuring programmatic excellence, compliance with grant requirements, and responsiveness to community needs.

- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and equity in service delivery.


People & Culture Leadership


- Lead with a trauma-informed and equity-centered management approach.

- Directly supervise the Associate Director, Operations Director, Development Director, and Marketing Coordinator.

- Promote staff well-being, direct communication, and collaborative decision-making.

- Oversee performance management, recruitment, and staff development planning in partnership with the Operations Director and Associate Director.

Community Engagement, Partnerships, and Advocacy


- Serve as the public representative of RRC with media, community leaders, funders, and stakeholders.

- Support storytelling, branding, and external communications in partnership with the Marketing Coordinator and community engagement staff to uplift survivor voices and reflect the mission.

- Build strategic partnerships to enhance survivor access to services and increase community visibility.

- Lead advocacy and policy engagement at the local and state level to advance systemic change.

- Collaborate with coalitions and task forces to ensure the implementation of survivor-centered resources, legislation, and public policy.

REQUIREMENTS & DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social work, OR a related field or equivalent lived/professional experience.

- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience, including supervision of senior-level staff.

- Demonstrated experience in financial oversight, fund development, and grant compliance.

- Proven ability to foster an inclusive, equitable, and trauma-informed organizational culture.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement.

- Experience managing partnerships, coalitions, or public policy efforts.

- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, HR, and operational systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in a relevant field (MPA, MSW, MBA, etc.).

- Experience working in or with sexual violence prevention, survivor advocacy, or trauma-informed services.

- Experience with capital campaign management or major donor stewardship.

- Knowledge of Utah’s legislative and nonprofit landscape.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT OFFER

- The employee must complete all new hire paperwork by the end of the day on the first workday.

- The employee must complete a criminal background check.

- Employees/Staff Members of the RRC cannot be alone with clients until the background check is received and reviewed for risk. 

- The employee must obtain a 40-hour crisis counselor certification and submit within 120 days.

- The employee agrees to a probationary period of 90-days from the first day of working in their new position. After 90-days, the employee will receive a detailed evaluation of their progress. 

- Employees must comply with the flu and COVID-19 vaccination policy. 

- Embrace the mission and commit to the values of RRC, including anti-oppression and anti-racism.
