Finance Manager

Admin/Operations


Hours: 15 hours per week

Salary: $35-$45 per hour

Work Model: Hybrid, In Office Preferred

Reports to: Executive Director

 

Position Overview

The Finance Manager is the organization’s lead financial role, responsible for overall financial management, budgeting, forecasting, grant and contract accounting, and cash flow oversight. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role ensures financial compliance, accuracy, and sustainability across multiple programs and funding sources.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial operations in accordance with nonprofit GAAP
  • Develop and manage the annual organizational budget, including program and grant budgets
  • Oversee financial management of government contracts and foundation grants
  • Ensure compliance with funder requirements, including allowable costs and cost allocation
  • Prepare grant invoicing, reimbursements, and required financial reports
  • Monitor cash flow, including projections and timing of reimbursements and restricted funds
  • Oversee accounting functions (A/P, A/R, payroll allocations, month-end close)
  • Manage and prepare all billing via Bill.com, automatic withdrawal, and Divvy credit cards
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, budget vs. actuals, projections
  • Support annual audit, Form 990 preparation, and Single Audit (if applicable)
  • Maintain internal controls, financial policies, and audit-ready documentation
  • Report out to finance committee and board of directors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of nonprofit finance or accounting experience
  • Experience with government contracts, foundation funding, budgeting, and cash flow
  • Strong understanding of cost allocation and nonprofit GAAP
  • Proficiency with nonprofit accounting systems and spreadsheets


Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200)
  • Audit and/or Single Audit experience
  • CPA, MBA, or nonprofit accounting certification (preferred, not required)
