Position Summary

The FJC Community Response and Engagement Manager is a vital role dedicated to strengthening relationships and enhancing collaboration among community partners, service providers, and stakeholders to support survivors of domestic violence. This position is primarily focused on community coordination and engagement (80%), with additional responsibilities in operational and administrative support (20%). The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a trauma-informed approach, and a passion for creating impactful connections that benefit survivors.


Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity Engagement (80%)

Coordinated Community Response:

  • Develop and coordinate 6-8 Coordinated Community Response meetings per year with key partners.
  • Host these meetings and foster meaningful dialogue to improve community collaboration.
  • Build and maintain relationships with victim service providers to strengthen survivor support networks.

Advocacy Network Development:

  • Participate in community coalitions and other MDT teams support in county-wide advocacy network.
  • Invite partnering police departments’ victim advocates and community-based advocates in Salt Lake County to meet quarterly to share best practices and improve collaboration.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure survivor needs are prioritized across the network.

Outreach and Relationship Building:

  • Establish and nurture partnerships with diverse organizations, focusing on underrepresented communities, including deaf/hard of hearing, refugees, undocumented individuals, racial and ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ+ populations.
  • Represent the FJC at public events, giving impactful tours, presentations, and speeches to promote its mission and services.
  • Design and execute engaging events such as resource fairs and awareness campaigns to connect survivors with critical resources.
  • Collaborate with partners to host workshops and training sessions that reflect survivor needs and community priorities.
  • Lead the development and execution of innovative marketing campaigns to increase awareness of FJC services, including creating promotional materials, managing social media outreach, and organizing community awareness initiatives.

 

 

Operational and Administrative Support (20%)

Victim Service Provision:

  • Support the SLAFJC’s victim service operations, addressing increased needs from high-risk police referrals (at least 60 annually) that don’t result in emergency shelter.
  • Assist the Director of Case Management and FJC Guides in providing culturally responsive support and tailored referrals to all victims, ensuring inclusive and equitable service delivery.

Grant and Program Administration:

  • Assist with managing the OVW (Office on Violence Against Women) grant, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and reporting standards.
  • Track and document program activities to align with grant objectives and organizational goals.

Front Office Oversight:

  • Supervise front office operations to maintain a welcoming, trauma-informed space for survivors and visitors.
  • Ensure administrative processes support seamless access to resources for survivors.

 

QualificationsEducation & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community engagement, advocacy, or related roles, preferably in a nonprofit or social services setting.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Community Coordination: Proven ability to develop and lead collaborative meetings, fostering effective partnerships.
  • Trauma-Informed Approach: Deep understanding of trauma-informed principles and practices in victim advocacy.
  • Event Management: Experience in planning and executing community events that drive awareness and engagement.
  • Advocacy and Communication: Strong public speaking, storytelling, and relationship-building skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with grant compliance and reporting; skilled in using marketing tools, social media platforms, and event planning software.

Physical/Sensory Demands

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:  sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees; walk and stand for long periods of time; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement.  Travel to attend conferences, training, outreach and other events occurs routinely.
