Foster-Adoptive Family Consultant

Utah Foster Care (UFC) is seeking a full-time Foster-Adoptive Family Consultant to serve in the Northern Region (Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Morgan, Rich, & Weber Counties) based out of the Utah Foster Care Clearfield office.  The successful candidate will recruit potential foster-adoptive families to meet the needs of children in foster care.

Foster-adoptive Family Consultant Responsibilities:


  • Implement local and statewide strategies to find qualified foster/adoptive families, including working closely with foster/adoptive parents, DCFS, local businesses and other community partners.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual consultations with prospective foster/adoptive families.
  • Position will represent Utah Foster Care in the community and develop public awareness for a given geographical area.
  • Assist with the development and cultivation of partnerships with individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations, etc., promoting support for foster families.
  • Support the continued development of a volunteer program, in collaboration with the regional team.
  • Data input and management across multiple platforms.


Essential Knowledge & Skills


  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new technological platforms, including social media.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills: attention to detail is crucial, good problem-solving skills, able to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative work style with management, peers, and others: able to admit and rectify mistakes as they happen, flexible to change, in keeping with the Leadership & Self-Deception corporate culture.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills.


Job Qualifications & Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with non-profit or government child welfare agency, including experience or knowledge of Utah’s foster care system preferred.
  • Requires some evening and weekend hours, which helps provide flexibility in the day-to-day schedule.
  • Some travel is necessary to cover the needs of the Northern Region.
  • Valid Driver’s License & reliable vehicle required
