Reports to: Artisan & Programs Manager
Overview: Craft Lake City’s DIY Festival Kids’ Area Assistant Coordinator is responsible for assisting in managing the Kids’ Area to ensure a safe, fun, creative and educational experience for kids and families during the DIY Festival. This team member is passionate about youth arts education, and is creative, collaborative, friendly, and organized.
This is a contract, festival-specific position with a commitment of working August 8-10, 2025, with additional preparation shifts in the 4-6 weeks prior to the festival and the days immediately following the festival. The DIY Festival Kids’ Area Assistant Coordinator is required to be onsite for the duration of the DIY Fest, so working long hours in potentially extreme heat are factors to consider and keep in mind when applying for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Work with CLC’s Kids’ Area Coordinator to recruit, train and manage volunteers for the Kids’ Area
- Collaborate with the Kids’ Area Coordinator and DIY Festival Inventory Coordinator to determine what supplies and tools will be needed in the Kids’ Area
- Create and execute a safety plan for managing the bounce house and other activities in Kids’ Area
- Work with Kids’ Area Coordinator to ensure volunteer shift coverage of all Kid’s Area activities.
- Assist in Managing all aspects of the Kids’ Area during the DIY Festival, including setup, breakdown, staff breaks, and assisting volunteers and staff as needed
- Work with Kids’ Area Sponsor to ensure their promotion and participation goals are met
- Provide impeccable customers service to the family and patrons attending the Kids’ Area
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children of all ages, in art education, and/or family programming preferred
- Event coordination and crowd management experience desired
- Well-versed in creating and managing a budget
- Superb customer service skills
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Effective communicator with a collaborative work style
- Adaptable and flexible in a nonprofit, event-driven environment
- Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.
- Comfortable leading volunteers
- Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs
- Must be able to stand on their feet for upwards of 10 hours a day
- Must be able to endure summer temperatures of 90 degrees and above
- Passionate about kids and providing positive experiences for them
Requirements:
- Part-time, seasonal contract position
- Ability to work in-house at the CLC office for Training 3-4 days before the DIY Festival
- Available to work all three days of the 17th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons: August 8, 9, & 10, 2025
- Must own laptop and cellphone, with willingness to use for Craft Lake City tasks
- Reliable transportation with willingness to use for Craft Lake City tasks
- Must attend all required staff meetings and trainings
