Kitchen Assistant

Neighborhood House is looking for a kitchen assistant to help with day-to-day operations in our kitchen, serving breakfast, lunch and snack to all our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone eager to learn and grow their culinary skills. We provide more than 100,000 nutritious meals to over 500 children and adults each year. Our kitchen offers award-winning, from-scratch meals with a seasonal, rotating menu. Local produce is used whenever possible in our efforts to support the community. Our new state-of-the-art kitchen facility will allow you to utilize and develop your skillset as you also make a difference in the lives of families in the community. As a kitchen assistant you will also have the opportunity to learn new cooking techniques and food preparations.


As a kitchen assistant you will be a key member helping Neighborhood House live out its mission. The mission of Neighborhood House is to enrich, empower and educate children and adults through quality, affordable preschool programs, day care services and comprehensive support services. Must be available Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm.


The Successful Candidate will be:

· Self-motivated, driven, responsible, and highly dependable

· Understand the operations of a commercial kitchen

· Strive in a team environment

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs


Primary Responsibilities:

· Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals for large groups

· Assist with cart set-up for breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily

· Maintain clean work areas, including dishwasher, freezer/refrigerator, stove/oven, and food preparation areas


Qualifications:

· Must be 18+ or older

· Current Food Handlers Permit

· Pass Childcare Licensing Background Check

· Pass Drug Test

· Bilingual a plus, but not required
