Chief Development Officer for: (fundraising priorities, campaign strategy, deliverables, and timelines)

Chief Executive Officer for: (brand strategy, organizational communications, and organization-wide alignment)


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Marketing & Communications Manager tells the stories of the amazing wish families we serve to our community and key stakeholders. The role is part of the development team, driving engagement, communications, and community awareness. In addition, this role carries organization‑wide responsibilities—leading integrated marketing, public relations, social media, design, and storytelling to strengthen the Make‑A‑Wish Utah brand and advance the mission across all programs.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 - Development Marketing Strategy and Revenue Enablement

 - Participate in Development Team meetings and activities as the marketing lead, bringing forth insights aligning campaigns with fundraising priorities, and ensuring marketing efforts directly support revenue generation and stewardship

 - Generate creative ideas and execute activities that provide value to corporate partners, while proactively identifying and pursuing opportunities to generate new leads for the development team

 - Drive Donor communications that make the impact of each gift tangible, strengthening trust and long-term engagement

 - Create, collaborate, and oversee the design of co-branded campaign collateral

 - Produce high-impact, ready-to-use stories and materials that the Development Team can easily share to bring our mission to life


PR Management

 - Serve as the primary media contact for Make-A-Wish Utah, including responding to inbound media inquiries and coordinating interviews

 - Draft, edit, and distribute press releases for campaigns and major milestones

 - Coordinate with internal teams (Development, Programs, Leadership) to gather accurate details, quotes, and approvals for media materials

 - Manage and cultivate relationships with local and regional media outlets, including TV, radio, and digital partners

 - Track and report on earned media placements and campaign exposure with a strong understanding of key marketing data and metrics


Social Media Management

 - Own the strategy, planning, and execution of social media content across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)

 - Publish and monitor: Feed posts, Stories

 - Reels / shortform video

 - Coordinate social media deliverables promised to corporate partners and sponsors (posts, stories, tags, recaps)

 - Manage light paid social promotion (boosted posts) for key campaigns and partners

 - Track reach, impressions, and engagement; provide recap metrics to internal teams and partners as requested

 - Ensure all content follows Make-A-Wish brand and storytelling guidelines


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 - Train and manage Marketing and Communications Interns

 - Design or oversee creation of graphics, logos, and materials for wish granting programmatic needs

 - Website management

 - Ensure all designs align with national Make-A-Wish brand standards (color, typography, imagery use)

 - Possible Travel throughout the state, plus potential travel to national conferences and training

 - Perform other related duties as assigned or requested


DESIRED BACKGROUND and ATTRIBUTES

 - Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field (this may include, but is not limited to: Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Business, Nonprofit Leadership)

 - Minimum of four years' experience in marketing, communications, or media relations

 - Excellent writing, organization, prioritization, and communication skills

 - Demonstrated experience in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite Preferred

 - Working knowledge of SalesForce or other fundraising software is a plus

 - Extremely positive, professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor; must thrive in a highly collaborative and mission-driven team culture.

 - Ability to manage multiple priorities, and work in a deadline-driven environment.

 - Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit, be able to set and achieve goals, and be self-motivated.

 - Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 - Ability to stand or sit and utilize a computer for long periods.

 - Ability to lift 25 pounds in and out of a car.

 - Night and weekend work is occasionally required to support special events and development-focused activities.
