Marketing Coordinator
Under the supervision of the marketing & PR manager, Hogle Zoo’s marketing coordinator works to further the zoo’s mission of creating champions for wildlife as an integral member of the Advancement team.
This individual builds mission engagement through social community management, social media content, website support, email marketing support, and other marketing communication tasks as assigned, including earned and paid media assistance. This position supports the marketing team by gathering ideas and content shared across digital channels, including social, web, and email.
As a steward of public messaging, this role has an important responsibility to communicate information accurately and effectively, advancing the mission and protecting the zoo’s reputation.
The position is on location at Utah’s Hogle Zoo, Monday through Friday, with some evenings, holidays, and weekends required. Not eligible for remote work.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the Marketing and PR Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing:
- Works closely with the Advancement team (marketing, graphics, development, events) and supports the marketing team to develop engaging marketing communication for social, email, and web.
- Supports event promotion, animal communications, zoo promotions, and departmental requests.
- Gather, organize, and create tailored brand content (from concept to approval) using copywriting, graphics, photos, and video.
- Other duties as assigned.
Social media:
- Daily social community management, monitoring, listening, and engaging, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Supports social content with photos, videos, and captions, including live content for special events and value-add days.
- Promoting zoo events across channels
- Supports community and social partner logistics
Website
- Edit WordPress web pages, event pages, and posts
- Support marketing campaigns with website updates
- Supports monthly email marketing plan through calendar management, content creation, and builds.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field, or previous professional experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
- Familiarity with Canva, WordPress, and email marketing tools are a plus.
- Professional experience managing business social media accounts and using social for customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with key audiences: staff, zoo guests, members, and donors.
- High standard of ethics in a confidential environment
- Understanding of calendaring and project management
- Ability to balance creative ideas with appropriate tone and mission focus
- Advancement team members are adept at collaboration, organization, and communication. The advancement team supports Hogle Zoo by working during special events as needed.
- Flexible with hours. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are required for events and holidays.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION
- Utah’s Hogle Zoo is a drug-free workplace. All employees are subject to random drug testing.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and TB negative test.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require a variety of physical activities which do not generally involve muscular strain, but do require activities related to walking, standing, bending, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity is required to perform essential functions. Requires lifting of up to 30 lbs.
