Position Overview 

The Marketing and Social Media Manager develops and implements UAA’s branding, marketing strategies, and social media strategies. This role is primarily responsible for the main UAA brand as well as the sub-brands associated with UAA festivals and White Party; and assists as needed with all other sub-brands. This role ensures alignment with UAA’s mission and fosters collaboration across departments and venues to enhance community impact and visibility.

Department: Festivals and Events

Compensation: $22 per hour, can vary depending on experience

Job Type: Manager, non-exempt, benefited. PTO; 50% coverage for health, dental, and vision insurance

Shift and Hours: Full-time (35-40 hours/week on average with increase in hours during larger events), primarily 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with flexibility for attending after-hours events.. Works some Friday evenings and weekends associated with events. 

Hybrid Work Environment: This job can be a hybrid (in-person/virtual) position as approved by the Operations Manager. Locations: Combination of on-site and off-site work for events. 

Reports to: Operations Manager > Executive Director

Supervises: None (assists and mentors venue marketing assistants)


Key Responsibilities 


Branding and Strategy 

● As needed, assist department/venue-specific marketing assistants. 

● Ensure consistent branding across all departments.

● Identify and engage target audiences.

● Foster collaboration between departments for cohesive marketing campaigns and events. 

● Prioritize UAA’s mission and values in all communications and promotional efforts. 


Content Creation and Campaigns 

● As needed, assist department/venue-specific marketing assistants. 

● Create compelling print and digital promotional materials. 

● Develop content calendars and manage social media accounts for the overall org (UAA), festivals, White Party; posting regularly to build the UAA brands. 

● Design email campaigns to promote events, exhibitions, and fundraising efforts. 

● Write and edit engaging content for UAA newsletter, website, and other communication channels. 

● Add new members to newsletter email list.


Festival and Event Promotion (primarily org-level festivals and the White Party)

● Plan and execute marketing strategies for exhibitions, performances, workshops, and community events. 

● Collaborate with event planners, curators, and program managers to ensure effective promotion. 


Fundraising and Sponsorship 

● Work with development teams to create materials for fundraising campaigns. 

● Promote donor and sponsor recognition through marketing efforts.

● Highlight the impact of donations to encourage continued support. 


Analytics and Reporting 

● Track and report on marketing campaign performance and effectiveness. 

● Adjust strategies based on data to improve reach and engagement. 

● Maintain records of audience demographics, ticket sales, and social media performance. 


Team Collaboration and Oversight 

● Collaborate with program directors and leadership to align marketing efforts with organizational goals. 

● Train and mentor volunteers or interns in marketing tasks. 

● Supervise creative staff (e.g., graphic designers, copywriters, or social media coordinators) as the role evolves. 


Budget Management 

● Secure in-kind donations and partnerships to enhance marketing efforts. 

● Manage the marketing budget to ensure cost-effective strategies. 


Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director, Operations Director, and/or Outreach Manager.


Qualifications 


Required Skills 

● Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

● Proficiency in digital marketing tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) and website administration (Joomla or WordPress preferred). 

● Experienced with managing social media platforms for marketing purposes.

● Knowledge of branding, content creation, and campaign management. 

● Strong organizational and time-management skills.

● Ability to analyze data and adjust marketing strategies accordingly. 

● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 


Preferred Skills 

● Understanding of SEO best practices and analytics tools. 

● Creativity and a collaborative mindset. 

● Familiarity with database management and email marketing platforms.
