Medical Assistant/ Medical Receptionist

Responsibilities:

Clinical

-Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to clinic procedures.

-Obtains patients vitals including: recording temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, height/weight, and responses to standardized medical history questions.

-Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including equipment.

-Assist providers with procedures, treatments and interventions as needed

-Act as a chaperone for health care providers during patient examination as requested.

-Assist in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information in patient’s records, obtaining medical records from other providers/offices.

-Give injections, and assist with lab testing. 

Clinical Care Coordination

-Schedule, coordinate and monitor appointments, tests and treatments/procedures.

-Maintain medical records. Accurately document patient history, physical and vitals into the EMR.

-Maintain inventory of medications or supplies used to treat patients.

-Conduct pre-authorizations in accordance with third party insurer requirements.

Medical Receptionist Duties 

-Greet and set the tone for a great visit by professionally and compassionately attending to the patients as they arrive for their appointments

-Answer the clinic phone line and provide accurate agency and referral information to patients

-Facilitate internal communications on multiple platforms to ensure an efficient appointment flow

-Maintain and update current information into the clinic EMR; following appointment procedures set by management

-Register patients, schedule appointments, and answer patient portal-related inquiries

-Collect insurance co-pays and assist patients with insurance related questions

-Perform daily reconciliations

-Provide all appropriate information to patients in preparation for appointment: patient intake forms, financial obligations and ensure referrals and authorizations are completed in a timely manner

-Maintain tidiness of the clinic front lobby and shared space

-Follow proper front office opening and closing procedures

-Promote effective working relations to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives

-Reschedule appointments according to the follow up notes or as requested by the medical team

-Perform all duties while following HIPAA regulations; maintain confidentiality of all doctor, staff, and patient information

-Keep inventory of clerical supplies and re-orders as necessary

-Report safety concerns and patient issues promptly to appropriate staff

-Other job-related duties as assigned or requested
