Summary:

As our Mental Health Support Specialist, you will assist the Mental Health Specialist in successfully identifying possible behavioral and mental health concerns of children. Your cooperative nature will be essential to providing supportive services and building productive relationships with children and their families. Each day will look different from the next as you support the Mental Health Specialist in implementing assessment, referral, and behavior plans. Our organization, Ogden Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP), is searching for a proactive Mental Health Support Specialist who is passionate about maintaining a supportive role, making a meaningful impact on the lives of our community by ensuring appropriate mental health services are provided to children and their families.

What you’ll need to be our Mental Health Support Specialist: 

·         A problem-solver who likes change and innovation

·         Strong rapport and relationship-building skills

·         C0genial and cooperative with an efficient, precise work ethic

·         Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child and Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, or related field

·         One year of experience working with young children preferred

What you’ll do as the Mental Health Specialist: 

 

·         Support the Mental Health Specialist with services such as scheduling, assessment and observation, referrals, case management, and partnering with families and staff.

·         Provide support to teachers and teacher assistants to implement effective classroom management and positive learning environments using classroom observation.

·         Model and support implementation of positive guidance plans in the classrooms.

·         Provide support to staff and families to identify and implement strategies that support children’s mental health, including those with mental health concerns, through education, observation, and connection to resources.
