Summary: The Next-Gen Philanthropy Program Manager serves a vital role in fulfilling the Community Foundation of Utah’s (CFU) mission through cultivating and maintaining donor and community relationships and supporting CFU’s philanthropic resources for our community.

Position: The Next-Gen Philanthropy Program Manager will lead innovative, collaborative and impactful philanthropy programming within CFU’s larger organizational goals and objectives. This experienced professional will focus on refining and developing strategic and relevant philanthropy programming that inspires, cultivates and engages donors and next-gen community members. The Next-Gen Philanthropy Program Manager will work in collaboration with other team members to develop a comprehensive fundraising and engagement strategy that connects the next-generation of Utah’s philanthropists to the community and to CFU. Additionally, the Next-Gen Philanthropy Program Manager will work to support strategies that allow CFU to foster deeper relationships with Utah philanthropists, donors and fundholders and generate greater awareness of, and engagement with, CFU’s breadth of philanthropic services.

What You Will Do

Programmatic Initiatives

- Lead strategic planning and execution for CFU’s core philanthropic programmatic initiatives, including Give for Good Next-Gen and Utah Grantmakers Alliance

- Develop annual as well as long-term objectives and associated key performance indicators for all programmatic philanthropic initiatives, aligning these objectives to broader organizational outcomes and conducting regular progress assessments

- Develop and implement strategies to guide next-generation philanthropy on a pathway to deeper engagement with giving and the Utah philanthropic community

- Execute on Give for Good programmatic work including recruiting cohorts, facilitating collaborative workshops, defining funding priorities and evaluation criteria, implementing robust evaluation, and coordinating collaborative grantmaking

- Serve as the public face of these initiatives with the broader community and serve as an ambassador and champion of the work

- Develop comprehensive impact assessment for Give for Good in tandem with CFU Needs Assessment to inform CFU’s Utah Legacy Fund multi-year strategy 

- Develop and execute on sustainability plan for long-term program continuation, working in partnership with philanthropy colleagues and other departments to maximize fundraising efforts to advance CFU’s mission

- Work in coordination with Philanthropy team members to understand family relationships and assist in closing relationship gaps where applicable

Philanthropy Committee

- Work closely with Program Manager to ensure Committee engagement is utilized effectively as a resource to inform and develop CFU grantmaking and initiatives

- Work closely with Program Manager to develop meeting content, facilitate meetings and foster Board and Committee engagement 

What Experience You Will Need 

- A passion and understanding of community-driven philanthropy to address some of our community's greatest challenges 

- A minimum of six years’ work experience in a professional office environment; Bachelor’s degree preferred 

- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail

- Excellent research, writing, editing, and communication skills

- Outstanding interpersonal skills and a desire to connect with community members

- A desire to learn and grow with a “can do” attitude, broaden skill set and knowledge

- Facile with core Microsoft programs and a high level of digital literacy

- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends

Who You Are 

- Strong interpersonal skills with a client service orientation

- Comfortable with financial complexity and able to effectively apply financial information to grantmaking processes and other relevant tasks 

- Ability to juggle multiple and disparate priorities efficiently and smoothly

- Willing and able to adapt, change, or streamline processes based on shifting priorities, changing circumstances, and/or stakeholder resources and capacity

- Understanding of the value and impact of continuous learning and iteration 

- Transparent communicator open to both give and receive constructive feedback 

- Eager to empathize with, and integrate, diverse perspectives and approaches
