Operations Director

Admin/Operations Management

The mission of Neighborhood House is to enrich, empower and educate children and adults through quality, affordable preschool programs, day care services and comprehensive support services. As the Operations and Technology Director you will support this mission by being accountable for the overall operations and technology management of Neighborhood House’s 57,000-square-foot building, which resides on 5.5 acres of land in the heart of Salt Lake City’s westside community and serves over 350 clients daily. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining systems and policies to ensure smooth operations of all aspects of our facilities, with the ability to increase efficiencies and productivity and keep all systems maintained and functioning smoothly. The Operations and Technology Director is part of the Executive Leadership team.

The ideal candidate would be analytical and organized, have an excellent understanding of systems implementation and be able to work well with all faucets of the organization and community The OT Director would need to support current operations and potential growth by continuing to create and evolve sound operations procedures, policies and schedules, and implement in the context of staff, clients, and community members.

Areas of accountability include: technology, data management, infrastructure, facilities, grounds, kitchen management, CACFP grant reporting, security, building access, CCTV Monitoring, transportation, etc.

Position Responsibilities

  • Ensure all technology, kitchen, facilities, and grounds processes are working efficiently and maintained.
  • Work with database systems to ensure systems communicate and produce the appropriate data to further our goals.
  • Monitor existing processes and analyze their effectiveness; create strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Ensure outside contractors are performing duties up to expectations and creating a schedule for the bid process.
  • Manage the relationships with outside Contractors and internal staff responsible for IT, facilities, kitchen, and grounds.
  • Will serve as the lead Facilities person for all activities and events; will coordinate with all NH departments as needed to ensure event planning, set-up, and tear-down are completed as required.
  • Manage all elements of building Safety and Security systems and Emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Oversees and tracks preventive maintenance procedures for the facility, playground, vehicles, technology, and mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.
  • Oversee inspection schedules, contractors, vendors, and licensing requirements.
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures. 
  • Oversee security cameras, access to buildings, burglar and fire systems.
  • Compliance with all licensing, best practice, and accreditation regulations
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of experience in operations and facility management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred
  • Bilingual English Spanish a plus
  • Excellent computer and technological systems understanding
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • The ability and willingness to perform other duties as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to pass a background check with fingerprinting, Moter Vehicle Record check, and random drug testing
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, food handler permit, and be CPR-certified
