The Opportunity: We’d love to hear about your interest in becoming our Philanthropy Manager. This is a rare opportunity to help a highly respected and accomplished land trust share its work within a fun, collaborative community. As Summit Land Conservancy’s Philanthropy Manager, you will be linking donors with one of the most effective conservation organizations protecting land in the Great Salt Lake watershed. In this role, you’ll meet donors, manage and organize engaging, well-executed events, and strategize about ways to include more people and businesses. Your relationship-building skills will connect people to the lands we protect, and your passion for our mission will foster strong partnerships with a wide range of individuals. Summit Land Conservancy is a leading land trust in Northern Utah, conserving farmland, recreational open space, and wildlife habitat.

Work Hours & Location: This position is based at the Summit Land Conservancy office, located in the Prospector area of Park City, UT, and follows a regular Monday–Friday schedule. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. Flex-time and comp-time are available with prior approval, reflecting our commitment to supporting a healthy work-life balance



Position Summary

The Philanthropy Manager will support the fundraising team by developing and implementing a comprehensive major donor strategy that expands and diversifies Summit Land Conservancy’s community of supporters while aligning with organizational goals. The Philanthropy Manager reports to the VP of Donor Relations and works closely with the CEO, VP of Communications, and Programs Specialist while collaborating regularly with all

other staff throughout the organization. The Philanthropy Manager will work closely with the Board to identify, cultivate, and expand the Conservancy’s donors and will play a key role in guiding and executing the donor moves management process. This position is responsible for managing and execution of events that

strengthen donor relationships and enhance engagement. The Philanthropy Manager serves as a strategic and mission-driven frontline fundraiser.


Focus of Responsibilities

  • Build relationships and secure philanthropic support ($1,000 and above) through personal visits with donors and prospective donors, including individuals, businesses/corporations, and foundations.
  • Develop performance metrics and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of major donor interactions, gifts, and prospects in the donor database.
  • Assure appropriate acknowledgment of contributions.
  • Develop and manage the major gifts budget as a part of the overall fundraising budget and provide regular reports on fundraising progress, donor engagement, and revenue projections.
  • Assist with developing and implementing stewardship plans to acknowledge, recognize, and engage donors, ensuring ongoing support and involvement and meaningful understanding of the impact of their contribution.
  • Organize and assist with the solicitation strategies of donors.
  • Manage donor engagement and fundraising events.
  • Maintain a robust donor prospecting pipeline.


 

Moves Management

  • Assist with the creation of a Donor Moves Management Plan.
  • Attend scheduled Board of Directors mid-level donor engagements, hikes, coffee, ski, house parties, etc.
  • Carryout assigned portfolio/mid-level moves management plan.


Business Partners & Sponsors

  • Assist with securing business partnerships to drive sustained funding through the Living For Open Space Program.
  • Assist with obtaining annual and event sponsorships.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 5 years demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising or related field with a documented history of      successfully cultivating, soliciting, and securing major gifts.
  • Highly developed organizational and time management skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple prospects, requests, and meet competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound judgment, tactful and able to handle highly confidential information.
  • Strong ability to think strategically, develop plans, and execute and evaluate them successfully.
  • Able to work fluently in Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and databases. Experience with Canva a plus
  • True enjoyment of open space. Experience or strong interest in conservation.
  • Ability to handle stressful moments (like large events) or last-minute changes with grace.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and local travel in personal vehicle is required.
